Pretty much what everyone else in this thread is saying. Dude isn't interesting outside of having bars.
Personally I still can't get past how he did Nahmir, but that's the industry for you.
This is wrong Kendrick first albums was all about growing up in the hood and the day to day struggles, which people related to and you got a good sense of who he is, J Cole is a bit more surface level but still made reflecting tracks as well as tracks that women fukked with and has big singles and born sinner was the album that elevated him.One could argue the same is true of Drake, Cole, and Kendrick. Lyrically, it's all surface level. The difference is Drake made a lane for himself with these relationship confessionals, no matter how shallow. Kendrick does a lot of rapping even when it has no point, but he's convincing. It took Cole to drop Forest Hills Drive to really connect because before that, it was like he was just there. Cordae is where Cole was at prior to Forest Hills minus the hits and the fan base.

They were never meant to be a group at all. Chemistry was off and you could tell cordae didn't fit in and Jay going with Rap A Lot fukked things up more
I thought they were cool, though? At least cooler than they are with jay
Trust, I respect all that, he doesn't owe YBN anything, but at the end of the day Nahmir got dude in the door. No one was expecting the group to last forever, hell, you could hardly call them a group. But he could at least give him a feature on his album or something. Nahmir doing bad rn. I'm just looking at it from a loyalty perspective I guess. If I got someone in the door, I'd expect em to return the favor in some way or look out to some degree. Yeah, his own talent had to keep him there, but opportunities in the music industry at the level Nahmir got him in is like a lottery pick.
I don't listen to Nahmir music at all, but I respect that when he was hot that summer, he spread it round and put on nikkas he barely even knew, and those some dudes kinda turned their backs on him
What does this meanLyrically, it's all surface level.

How soLacks depth.
How so
His girl gonna leave his ass soon
Can't be with no c-list rapper when she a legitimate worldwide superstar.
Dude can rap but his music is super boring/mid. He doesn't have a story or anything interesting to say. Just be rapping "bars" and that's not enough in 2022.
I heard a nikka called him J-Warm
But how does it lack depth and in relation to who and what makes others shyt any more deep?In regard to Drake, breh will name drop random women in a song and leave it as is. Why should we care about the time when he stayed with Jade?
We never find out why loving Kendrick Lamar is complicated on "u". "Alright" is a protest anthem, but what does he really say on that song?
And much of J. Cole's music before Forest Hills suffers from the same.
Gunna doesn’t have skill
He outrapped Cordae on Cordae album
