Bro all I’m saying is it’s just like any other housing project

that’s just a fact I don’t know what you want me to tell you

It’s really not even a massive apartment complex if we being real

Parkchester and StuyTown for example are way bigger in comparison and have their own economies, shopping centers, own security etc

That “golden city” fairytale that nas and mega sold ya about qb ain’t it bruh it’s a fukking run of the mill nycha complex

Steve Stoute is definitely a better friend to have than Cormega tho...:russ:, just sayin, if Nas has to end up choosing one or the other.

Nas swimming with the sharks in Corporate America nowadays, he aint burning that Stoute bridge to keep it 100 with the childhood homie. Stoute should apologize for speaking out of turn, Cormega should accept it, and everybody keep it pushing happily

Word.

Marley Marl said that Stoute was the reason why Nas dropped him from executive producing It Was Written. He was working with Nas on the album at first, and then he said "all of sudden" Nas accused him of leaking records and said he wanted to go over to work with Trackmasters, to make the album more mainstream. He said he couldn't even get Nas on the phone after that. Next thing you know, Stoute is the executive producer for the album, lol. And as Trackmasters' manager, that means he was seeing like 1/4 of the album's royalties too. Marley said, "people should ask Stoute about what really happened with that."
The leaked song was "On the real" that Marley Marl worked on. It was played on a radio show.

Nas felt that way because of the way he felt Marley was moving. He wasn’t feeling the business side of shyt and how his music would be leaking and random nikkas would be on his shyt. It’s prolly best for Nas’ career that he stopped letting Marley Executive Produce it.

To quote something from King's Disease, Nas' relationship with Stoute wasn't 'all bad'.

Hanging with Marley: Firm might've stayed intact, IWW would've been more street/Queens focused.

Hanging with Stoute: hooked up with Trackmasters, hooked up with Lauryn Hill, hooked up with Will Smith --> These were KEY to Nas really blowing up. He's talked about this a lot but Illmatic did almost nothing for him personally. It got him acclaim but he was basically surviving through features and advances. It was IWW and his moves that secured him financially, pretty much for the rest of his life (up until his investments started popping off). And let's not forget - IWW is a classic album in it's own self. It proved that Nas was versatile ("One of the most creative LPs ever to hit stores") and couldn't be pigeonholed even though critics have tried to do this ever since.

Even Cormega has said that in hindsight he understands the moves Nas had to make. Without Stoute Nas might've been on Buckshot/Smoothe Da Hustler(or Cormega) levels, and that's no diss those are my favorite rappers but it is what it is. SHYHEIM dropped on the same day as Illmatic did and moved similar amounts of units in that year (not in the first weeks, Illmatic definitely had a bigger buzz, Illmatic didn't start selling again until IWW/Stillmatic bumps), but Shy got that Wu bump. ON & ON was a more succesful single than any of Nas' singles. Put that in perspective.

Truth.

Marley used to play it almost every weekend on Future Flavas back then. That's how I got it. Taped it right off the radio, lol. He said Nas knew that he was going to use it to promote the album, but Nas said he didn't give him permission to put other people on it. This is what Marley said Stoute caused. He said Nas started saying all this after Stoute got to him.

Mega and nas' beefs always get reignited over petty stuff but I don't think this (mega dissing stoute) will be a reason; nas and Stoute are cool but Nas knows/is aware of how other people he's close to, feel about Stoute
