Depends on how much you value interaction. Tbh beyond isolation, if you are vaxxed, use a mask, social distance and wash your hands regularly, there isn't much else you can do.

I don't value interaction as much as other people. Something I've always known about myself was confirmed/reinforced by the pandemic, BUT I don't want/like being a hermit neither. Luckily winter is coming quick and ppl tend to be out slightly less either way

People are so inconsiderate. Like, if getting the vaccine did nothing but relieve the healthcare workers from getting slammed, I'd still get that shyt.

This is going to have insane long term ramifications. I mean some of it is right here. So many non-Covid related surgeries are having to be postponed. I imagine a lot of quality people will stop working in healthcare and may not be excited to come back.

The overall quality of our healthcare workers will probably decrease due to all of this. I know so a few good nurses that have either quit or are wanting to find other jobs

am struggling with what to do next , i was hardcore locked down from late January last year until basically March of this year. Mask/double mask, vaccine etc and have slowly been going back to "normal" this year. Even went on a road trip half way across the country, but now with delta spreading more and more not sure if i should huddle back down
I feel you brother. I think if you are fully vaccinated, that you are probably fine to live life more "normally" than how it was in 2020. If you're wearing a mask indoors then you're being considerate for those that aren't vaxxed.

I'm in a bind myself. I'm living in a new city kind of unexpectedly for the rest of 2021 for a career move that will suck in the short term, but pay off in the long run. There aren't many people here I know, and I just went from a left of center area to a right of center area. I have to do sparring, wrestling, and rolling almost every day inside a hot gym with a mat full of people that are probably at best 50% vaxxed. I got fully vaxxed back in early April, but I literally have to be out here doing this. So I think it's just a matter of time before I get it, if I haven't had it already. I don't see hardly anyone here wearing masks anywhere. It's a big shock to see. Even this morning when I got coffee I was the only person masked up inside that wasn't an employee.

If (when) I get Covid, I'll obviously let everyone know here what the symptoms are like for a 35 year old that's had the Pfizer vaccine.

:snoop:

edit: @Godless Liberal CEO It's scary, right? I'm not even sure how much more my activity should be allowed to happen. BJJ/MMA is basically the riskiest activity you can do in a pandemic. Most of my friends that run schools did the right thing and closed before it was mandated in 2020, and most either lost their businesses in 2020 or came very close; I can't see any of them re-closing again with Delta unless they're forced to. They're all struggling too hard. I was a couple months away from signing a lease to start my own school when the pandemic was announced in March. I'd have been fukked if I'd signed a lease right before all of this.

I don't know how the medical professionals in these communities aren't quitting en masse. There's no way I'd stick it out through this madness.
I think they will be by the end of this year. God bless 'em for staying as long as they have. My ex just became a PT and I can't imagine but think about how shytty a time it must be to enter the medical profession in any capacity.

I gotta be careful on my stress level reading stuff like this. I got Pfizer (wasn't my choice; it was just what I got) and I didn't expect it would ever keep me entirely from getting Covid. I got it primarily to make sure I wouldn't end up in the hospital or dead and to help stop the spread.

All the vaccines are still doing a good job at preventing hospitalization, right? I read yesterday that most of the very few people that are dying from breakthrough infections are in their mid 80's.

Deaths, hospitalizations and even symptomatic infections are low.

I think the question now is when and which booster shot will be recommended. Mix and match, the more effective one, whatever's available, delta specific shot?

We're still too early into delta variant to even make any conclusions, I'm not convinced by any of these studies yet. And by the time we have it figured out I'm sure we'll already be dealing with the next variant :francis:

Are you vaccinated?
I am but my moms immunocompromised (cancer) so I do a lot of things for her. I don’t want to risk unknowingly giving her something :yeshrug:

If that’s means no gym I can live with it. Copped some resistance cables and I run now to try and at least stay at my current weight. Muscle mass has definitely decreased

I feel as most reasonable people thought the herd immunity idea that was being floated around earlier this year was a myth

This article says what @winb83 has been saying in other threads, there’s no avoiding the virus at this point if you choose to be unvaccinated

ive been saying to this to people in person for the last two months. as everyday goes on more an more people i know and around me seem to be messaging me about getting covid or telling us after theyre over it and also minimizing it(they aren't vaccinated and these people i havent seen since covid).

as someone else said i think the ramifications on so many industries and so many different manners are going to be long lasting. and a-lot of people tend to ignore this aspect if theyre even caring at all

Right now the Lambda variant is showing some fight against vaccines, while Delta & Delta-plus, should only have minor effect on your systems if you got your vaccine. Now the only good news with that, is that Lambda as of now seems to have a hard time moving more than the Deltas.

Overall, you get your vaccine, you are really unlikely to go to hospital.

Just give me the Booster for this shyt. :blessed:
