I'm sure someone could draft up a post that can get pinned. How Covid-19 is different and similar to the flu; the potential impact this could have and why we should worry - NOT PANIC; what to do to avoid catching/spreading the virus, and links to general resources.

Nah i just watched a video of people in my town still partying on a roof top for st pattys in a crowded bar like we aren't under a global pandemic. the lack of care for some people is inexcusable and reckless. We putting our lives on the line letting idiots like that spread and walk the earth

my area is kinda quiet so to avoid getting cabin fever I figure it’s still
Kinda safe to walk around sideblocks and maybe jog late at night when nobodies outside

I just had a thought. Covid-19 slows in warm weather right? Come May when it's nice out and there are fewer cases going around people are going to think it's over. What I'm worried about is that while there are few cases things are going to go 'back to normal' so to speak. Bigger social gatherings and more chances for the few cases of 'rona to spread again, a second boom period for it

unfortunately people studying it dont expect warmer weather to be a silver bullet

And if those ppl relying on wages and tips are hurting, then the administration that continues to downplay this and got us into this situation should be the ones to help those individuals.

Yeah and he's talking about wanting private businesses to voluntarily close if you think it's needed then make it mandatory

Private businesses are trying to squeeze out every single dime they can. I got a call today asking me to 'think' about staying at work starting this week because commuting by subway is dangerous

I'm so glad they're so concerned about my safety

If this lasts longer than a few weeks the economic damage is going to be insane.

it’s too late for this now, but if it were me, I would have shut down travel from China in January, and if the virus seeped in, I’d lock down all nursing homes and retirement communities and generally tell old people to stay home. This isn’t airborne, you have to touch a surface or get coughed on, if you stay home or even go out with a mask you’re not getting it

Old people can still catch it if they’re around younger people at home or work. The point is to mitigate that risk because like you just said, it’s too late for all that now. If the rest of us are still going out and about then we increase the risk of old and vulnerable catching it.

@Frump my epidemiologist friend said walking/running outside if you aren’t in a populated area is fairly safe. There’s some mounting evidence that this is airborne but all in all he said it’s not too risky. Take it for what it’s worth. I think you’re okay.
