We are on week 10 over here and the virus isn't letting up at all. Schools closing up again. Just got hope the summer brings it down so normal life can go on. But as long as you mask up and wash hands your okay.

DAYTONA BEACH — Beach driving will be halted this weekend in Volusia County to stem the tide of crowds whose numbers increase the risk of possible spread of the coronavirus.
“Starting tomorrow, Friday, in New Smyrna Beach, vehicular beach access ramps will remain closed,” said Volusia County Manager George Recktenwald at a press conference called late in the afternoon Thursday. “This means that cars will not be able to access the beach in New Smyrna.”
Recktenwald said starting Saturday, that will also be the case at all vehicle ramp locations throughout Volusia County. The county will re-evaluate the situation after the weekend.
While Recktenwald said the decision made on Tuesday to keep the beach ramps open was based off guidance from the governor’s office, he said over time, and after seeing how high tides influenced the amount of space beagoers had to spread out, they decided to enact the additional measures of closing all ramps over three days to prevent any issues.
“This will serve as a measure of crowd control,” said Recktenwald. “Given the weather reports and so many people off work this weekend, we anticipate much greater crowds to use the beach.”
Volusia County weather on Thursday was stunningly beautiful, making it difficult to imagine the invisible pandemic could ruin such a gorgeous beach day. Folks like Daytona resident Ron Hanshaw took advantage of the sunshine.
Pandemic or no pandemic, Hanshaw lives for the beach.
On Thursday morning, Hanshaw (who claimed to be 39, but had a Santa-Claus beard betraying his claim) parked his camper at Silver Beach Avenue, set out his umbrella and comfy-looking leather office chair and enjoyed the bright sunny day. His bearded dragon, Gizmo, sat on a small table under the umbrella.
“Best pet in the world,” said Hanshaw, as he called over 9-year-old Brooke Rector of Illinois to see if she wanted to hold the small reptile.
Brooke, who came to Florida with 19-year-old Danielle Nelson for Bike Week and spring break, nodded yes to Hanshaw and reached out to take Gizmo from the Daytona man’s grasp. She posed for a photo as Nelson got a good angle.
Brevard County officials began closing its beachside public parking in their own territory that had two positive coronavirus cases on Thursday. The plan includes closing access points, county and municipal parking areas, and parking garages along the 72-mile county shoreline in an attempt to contain the spread of the coronavirus.
Asked on Wednesday whether there has been any evidence of community spread, Holly Smith, communications manager for the Volusia County Department of Health, said there was not.
Asked also if the Department of Health is concerned about the beach crowds, Smith said, “DOH encourages social distancing.”
Elsewhere, bars, restaurants and, in some cases, whole cities across the nation shut down this week. But Volusia County beaches remained open and, in some places, packed.

I’m from Brooklyn a place where stars are born.
America never really experienced hardship since the Great Depression. That was almost a hundred years ago. The generation that remembered it are almost all dead. Baby Boomers all they know is prosperity,same with Gen Xers, Millennials and Gen Z. Yeah we’ve experienced recessions but nothing of mass collective suffering. Anything that tries to shatter our bubble of western prosperity ha everyone start freaking out. I do not think American society can handle an economic depression or mass natural disaster etc. If people are losing their shyt for this and hoarding toilet paper God forbid if the electrical grid is down for months across this country

So a guy I know just posted on FB about a close friend of his that caught it. His buddy was in FL for work over the last 2 weeks and took a few days extra to go to Disneyworld. Now he has it (35, cyclist but has asthma). He's on a ventilator now...

So this guy did have asthma, but was an amateur competitive cyclist so he was in pretty good shape form what I know. Again, this was a friend of a friend so not someone that I know personally, but that's close.....
