that's crazy, the rent must be really high or very low or they must be crazy

:what:
I’m not sure why your reaction is that. Each state has different laws about this, CA said that restaurants can stay open for takeout and delivery only, so that’s what some are doing. It’s no where near what they need to turn a profit, but it’s better than nothing I guess. We also don’t have the same level of crisis, if it were to pop, I’m sure they’d be directed to close also

edit: and you know damn well rent ain’t low here :comeon: I won’t pretend to know if these restaurants will be protected by the no eviction laws...but hopefully they won’t all get the boot when they can’t pay up

I would say roughly half the spots are open for takeout, not the high, high end, but the local places, and upscale spots are 100% doing takeout. It's to stop the bleeding. Keep some income coming for you staff. You have to entirely re calibrate your life and expectations in an emergency. Forget about making money, it's surviving. I've taken losses, and went from lux this and that, to being happy I made $30 to eat with, it's that same mentality you have to have, and that's where the spots doing take out are. Can't make the rent, but can put a few thousand up for you personal rent, and keep 1/3 of your staff, and pay vendors, and pay the lights, barely.

I've been spending x2 in every spot I've gone to, or at least 15% more, get a meal for lunch and dinner.

Restaurants need it crammed to even break even.

When ya put it that way:francis:especially when me and my Gyrl hit the local Applebees(hey them $1 Dranks tho:hubie:)and there would be a Line out the Door on a Friday/Sat Night...as I told my Brother, they should do it bu Appt/Reservation for an hr or two....same for Gyms etc

because the overhead vastly outweighs staying open here

I wouldn't think rent isn't any less expensive in the bay or the overhead...

I also would think most owners don't want their staff to get sick or have staff that are unwilling to work

They don’t have the same level of staffing. Now what rent, utilities, food sourcing, etc looks like, I don’t know. But they’re allowing some people to get hours and bringing in some revenue, I’m sure if they lost more by doing takeout/delivery than being closed, they’d close. But both are losing propositions, just depends on which is worse

So Trump is going to go with the plan of dealing with rolling cases of coronavirus in an effort to get things back to 'normal'

Brilliant.

All this so American people can't get a basic income from the government.

Americans have to die so the people in power continue to make money. And it's being wrapped up as 'regular people need to make a living'

And folks are eating it up. Chomping at the bit to kill themselves.

The hilarious thing is that you have already probably spent more on stimulus than most other countries combined. Where did those trillions go?

Did they help anyone? How much of that money was used to furlough workers? Is it just more money in the stock market?

The government continues to abuse their people and even some on this board who should know better are ready to die for them.

'What other choice do we have?' You keep saying.

Stockholm syndrome.
