Appreciate you dropping some hard data.
So let's run the numbers using the data nyknick presented concerning Michigan's cases and deaths for young people (I'll define as age group 20-29 and 30-39).
Collective cases in December: 46,907
Collective deaths in December: 25
Fatality rate for 20-39 age group:
0.05%
Collective cases in April: 60,567
Collective deaths in April: 65
Fatality rate for 20-39 age group:
0.11%
Collectively, yes, the fatality rate has increased, but again vaccinations access is increasing. At the end of the day, the numbers show it, for young folks, this virus isn't the death sentence the media is making it out to be. The fatality rate isn't even half a percent for those 20-39 per Michigan's data.
And if Michigan is one of the worst hit states in the US, just based on those numbers, I think people should feel optimistic that we're turning a corner on this virus.
This isn't March 2020. We have information about how to avoid Covid, how it's spread and how to protect our loved ones. Get the vaccine and keep it pushing.
