I remember this from ex-Yugoslavia.
In 1972 ex-Yugoslavia managed to vaccinate almost the entire adult population, totally 80% of the whole population, in just 3 weeks, against small pox:

They did get a lot of vaccines from abroad, but there was an outmost trust in public health experts.


Although I believe an equitable health system is only a part of it, the other part is probably lack of internet conspiracies...

What did Dr Karanja say about Covid vaccines?

In a letter dated 3 March Dr Karanja said that "there are drugs that have been repurposed and used effectively to treat Covid-19," adding that "we also know that vaccination for this disease is totally unnecessary making the motivation suspect."

He went on in different forums to advocate alternative treatments, including steam inhalation and a cocktail of drugs - including hydroxychloroquine and Ivermectin, which have not been approved by the WHO to treat Covid-19.

Dr Karanja, who was an obstetrician and gynaecologist, died on Thursday a week after he was admitted to hospital suffering from complications caused by a Covid-19 infection.

I think this is a baseline. But we're often talking about countries that propel themselves, their leadership, and style of government as better and then look for benevolence when they fail.

Unfortunately this was me, not out of ignorance but just out of exhaustion. I actually had to check myself this past weekend, am a few days away from my 2nd dose but was acting (semi) like everything was all good after the first one. Still wearing my mask etc, but going out alot more.

The US botched the pandemic so badly that the only way to have a fighting chance against it was the vaccine. Then when the vaccine came out, people didn't want to take it, and now more variants are popping up making it more likely the vaccines will be ineffective against them.

Got my second dose on Thursday and I can slowly feel some peace of mind returning. To be honest though I think I’ll still be triggered if someone coughs near me moving forward
