it's easier to enroll in the Iowa vaccine lotto. NY wants people to go to one location in a few counties to pick up a lotto ticket.

They got our names in a database, they should work off that like Iowa is doing.

Giving people lottery tickets is a sign of desperation no matter way you cut it. First it was shake shack burgers and fries and Krispy Kreme donuts now this.

I mean, do want them to get vaccinated or not? A $5 million lottery is a drop in the bucket if it means getting businesses back to full steam and tax revenue gets flowing once again.

I rather the carrot approach than the stick (you can’t go to X or Y without proof of a vaccine). This is one of those moments where the means justifies the end.

Yea, a little over 60% of the US adult population (18+) have had at least one shot. That number is like 70-75% for 65+ (The most at risk of hospitalizations and death). Also throw in a 93% follow up rate on the 2-shot schedule. IIRC just one shot of Pfizer offers like 80-85% protection which is really good.

That’s why I’m puzzled when the Coli talks about an additional wave coming or the CDC being foolish for lifting the mask guidance. Cases are dropping and the US is almost at the point where half of the total population has received at least one shot. 1.8 million doses still being administered a day. The main thing is the most at risk are getting covered so no overwhelming the healthcare system.

And all the known variants are getting adequate coverage from the vaccines in market.
