your stars are but dust on my shoes
My friend is currently in my DMs explaining why he hasn't gotten his COVID vaccine yet, and he's saying the same shyt everyone else says.

Flu symptoms, 2% fatality etc and etc.

He graduated with a degree in math, but he held an affinity for Joe Rogan and his podcast.

Random thought… wonder what the effects of this shyt going to have on student enrollment in the healthcare field moving forward :jbhmm:

Well if you took away money, I would say that its Top 3 in terms of need. Not just from burnout/leave, but to also take care of the baby boomers as they age. Its really one of those things where everyone is just saying, "WE NEED MORE NURSES TO TAKE CARE OF COVID." when really this has been the talk for years because of the aging baby boomers.

But like all professions, and I know some of the brehs in HL are nurses, they can probably explain more of the pros/cons of the job but what is know for sure... that even before this shyt., you had like one nurse take care of more than 10 patients at least.

My uneducated opinion is that there will be a lot of burnout as lots of doctors/nurses went from heroes to 'being in cahoots with the liberal media' and being forced to take care of uninformed people on their deathbed day in and day out.

My optimistic, uninformed, best case scenario is that the healthcare turnover is strongly correlated with rural areas, which forces hospitals to pay higher wages to lure in out-of-towners, which raises healthcare costs in rural areas and pushes red dog Republicans to be more interested in Medicare for All, making it a tenable bipartisan issue. Although he somehow blamed Biden, the van-bomb dude (aka John Q-anon) was healthcare-related problems for example.

On a related/unrelated note, I wouldn't be surprised if this situation has long term negative effects on the healthcare industry regarding empathy. It feels like there's an above average # of doctors in r/HermanCainAward...
