Corporate is a good place to learn work ethic because the boss of your company at one point was working harder then you ever have in your life. Hard work is a character trait.

Not necessarily breh. You bought into the hype. For example, the boss I'm workin for inherited this whole operation from his pops. Now we can speculate that his pops was a honest woe, or he was coniving piece of opportunistic trash.

I resent people who worship the "work hard" bullshyt.

Breh, after all, this company wouldn't function without wage slaves down in the production. So they also work hard breh. I'm sick of CEO worship. fukk em. All of them are replaceable, just like workers are.

nikkas talking about quitting well paying jobs now? Wow. I hope your dad is the owner because if you have no back up you will be replaced with the quickness. If your serious about focusing on your hobby, YOU NEED TO fukkING PREPARE. If you haven't started already, save as MUCH money as possible. Be extremely frugal. You need to amass at least a 6 mo savings to feed yourself during your initial run. The world is harsh as shyt. Its cool to chase your dreams, but have a motherfukking plan. Jobs are too scarce to just throw away on a whim.

i think you're fronting but will play along. any artist that wants to grow wants as much publicity as possible to showcase his talent.

I'm not, why would I. I do want to grow publicity.

I did have a similar project in 2009. Worked on it while maintaining my 9-5. It took a toll on me but at that time I was completely enthusiastic about it in the beginnig. Anyway, finally it stopped being so fukkin exciting, my GF gave me funny looks I mean, coming home each day and working on it till midnight. So I slowed down.

People were immediately noticing - where's the new content.

Back then there was no patreon, funding content creators was not a thing like it is today...so I tried to explain I'm doing this for them out of my own pocket...and I got disillusioned by the whole thing and abandoned the project.

you can not do things half ass. Either you go in or don't go at all.

Well, I got laid off and I am heading out west to pursue a music career. I devoted time to make another mofo rich and bring their dreams to life. My turn.

I use to think that way until I realized that we're disposable. They cut majority like 80% of a department and outsourced to Panama. My life is worth more than $100 before taxes a day. I made that in minutes selling stripper costumes. Never again.

You got it all wrong breh, you are an imporant, vital cog in the machine breh. Work hard, extra hours breh. Work hard play hard remember what the music video tells ya.

You know all the rappers talkin bout "workin hard". Well you better be working hard as well. Grind. Get paid breh.

Once you get your checks, why would your company lay you off or do you dirty?

That's why you gotta work HARD, so you don't end up in a position to get layed off.

Work hard breh. Intern for 5 years, show how hard you can work. Grind.

Most businesses aren't inherited and no business that makes millions of dollars is run 100 percent honestly. Corners are cut.

No one's worshipping anyone. Talking about the work it takes for you as a black man to be successful. It takes alot of work. I think it's wrong to convince yourself that people who run profitable million dollar businesses are just la dee da about it. If it was that easy, youd be doing it.

Work hard for something that's worth it. Corporate sure ain't it. Don't waste all of your youth on something "safe" that drains life out of you.
But if you don't have good work ethic it's the perfect place for you to be to learn how hard working people run business.

Alot of the most successful people on earth learned the ropes of their professions on the job or put in uncalculateable hours toward mastering their craft. I feel we as black folks do not put I enough time mastering our crafts which puts less of us in a positions to run effective businesses.

Then we talk ourselves out of busines altogether by moralizing common business practices and going home with our ball.

If your internship gives you a seat at the foot of power or puts you in a position to learn your craft it's nothin. If you got coffee for 6 months then got fired that's painful

You gotta have time freedom. Money freedom is one thing, but working 80 hours per week or more will just make you grumpy. Especially for extended periods of time will kill you if you don't enjoy what you doing. All the money and you never see your family is inhumane.

Everybody is interning these days and employers see that as free labor. Many people are not going to get hired because there are not enough positions available.

I didn't read through all of the thread so I don't know if this was said yet. But the main thing you need to do is start. People worry about money flexibility but Time is far more important than money. You need to carve out time in your schedule to start making movies like you want to. First start on weekends with filming then dedicate one night per week editing etc. The main thing is that you have to start doing something.

People always say "I don't want to be here" or "I don't want to do this" and I learned a long time ago that no matter where you are or what you want to do, you are doing EXACTLY what you want to do given the consequences. You can always choose to say "fukk this job...I'm out :pacspit: " but the consequences are that you lose the money/income :yeshrug: . You just have to decide what you want and go after it. I know there are cats on worldstar who shoot videos with their phone and who are getting views, people on youtube shooting single shots with their iphone getting views. If you really have what it takes then :salute: and get on your grind. You might have to make some adjustments to life but you can do it.

That kind of work ethic isn't for everyone
