I can't live this life but I need the $

I know what I want to do in life but I don't know if I can make $ out of it. But I know it'll make me happy. I got a girl who I should be marrying, but I don't want to because marriage reminds me of repetitive ass life, going to work, back from work, rinse repeat.

I swear bein born un-rich...in this day n age...

:wow:

Sounds like you're bored and unsatisfied with both your girl and the job. You're actually very lucky you're not married yet. No one is tying you down right now and you can cut ties. I know it sounds scary, but you can start over. You can move, you can get another job and start working on the film in your spare time while you save. You really have a lot of options here, don't sentence yourself to a life no one is forcing you to lead.

Repped. Too many people are living inauthentic lives because it's safe. Following your gut is scary but really rewarding.

havent gone through this whole thread so not sure if this has been suggested, but i am in the same position as you. workin a 9-5, i feel like every day is the same, looking to get out but feeling trapped. But if you like making movies why dont you make a documentary about this exact subject. Show where you are and your journey, interview people who may have been in this position and have gotten out. document everything you are going through, emotions you feel, every day life. This way you can incorporate what you love to do with something you dont like doing at the moment and use it to try and get out. Shhiiiiit id watch it, because i can relate and im sure millions of others can too

Save as much as you can write your scripts on weekends

Might take you 5 years to save 100gs but by then you will have some safety net fund plus money to invest in a small business that can free up your time do you can make your own schedule like a small daycare your girl can run or your mother so you can leave your job pursue your passion and still be able to eat and not be homeless

I tried, I can't. Events happen all over the place. Also, if I want to lock down an interview with somebody, I can't force my terms, "hey mister, I will come to interview you but wait - I will only do it on saturdays, so please make schedule"

I need time for this, I would go full throttle no sleep. But dabbling in it half-ass is something I dont want, I'm too old to slack about something I hope will be my legacy one day
how old are u?

I know the feeling. Just started my first corporate job 4 weeks ago:francis: . Waking up at 5-5:30am.. getting home after the gym at around 10pm :francis:

I can already tell I'm either not gonna be staying at this company for that long. Or, I will be moving to another state with more culture. The DC area is :trash:. Nothing but government cac workers who look so uptight.

I randomly be coming up with business ideas and text with my nikka about them nshyt. Sooner or later we gonna start some shyt and grow it. We just gotta plan that shyt out correctly.

this 9-6pm life I work right now man smh....Everyone drinks coffee every 5 mins. nshyt. Gotta worry about stepping on ppl's toes. :comeon:

Wearing business casual attire 4 days outta the week :why::why::why::why::why::why:

Being black playing this corporate game is WOAT. It's not meant for us.

Nah, most government jobs are actually diversified and hard to fire you once you went through the probation period (1-3 years most times). Problem is, most people quit because of the bullshyt culture. It's the non government private industry is what you should fear, because they can fire you at will, even if you do your job properly.

Regardless, I refuse to listen to people's opinions if they not paying my bills. Even many people's advice in this thread is :what: because they don't have a tangible solution to their problems.

If you have an idea that is proven to make great money on the side, go for it full time and prosper.

Make movies. I've seen so many interesting characters and things in my life, seein all these mundane youtube videos getting views...why wouldn't someone be interested in mines. I don't want to make big productions. Just me, one man team, talking to people, traveling places, documenting the world as i see it. I need time for that more than anything. How the fukk am I supposed to do anything waking up at 6am and getting home 5 something pm.

I wouldn't complain if I made ungodly amounts of $ here...but I'm not. So it's an average job with zombies who ask me the same question every monday

How was your weekend kid, you got any action, ya know, im alluding to SEX :skip:

:snoop:

And I'm passed the treat-phase. I splurged like that before, put on weight. I ditched all carbs out of my diet past month and I feel great.

So, I just thought of something. There may be a compromise between completely starting over and committing yourself to a mundane life you hate. Are there any film societies/clubs in your area? Most cities (and large towns) have niche groups that revolve around the arts. Film festivals and independent screenings are good places to meet folks like that. So you don't have to quite your job, but you can cultivate your craft in your spare time, get out and find a new community of artists and resources to nurture your passion.

First off ... watch Dilbert and read the comic strip .... Perfect corporate jokes..

Corporate is not really the problem.. first you have to do what you love... I'm an engineer, been doing the same stuff since I was 14. Work in the same field I majored in in HS and then college. For me its not work, its not a job... There are days when I'm pissed becuase of bosses or whatever but I love what I do to much to let there mini 5 minute rant about something they know nothing about affect the rest of my life.

We ALL cant have our own businesses.. I even have a side business and i did the math... If i made my side hustle full time I wont make enough to cover what I make at my regular 9-5 .. and even if I did its a yearly struggle. 1 year I might exceed it then the next year I may underachieve.. Once I knew the numbers will work out to a better average I will do it but for now the 9-5 + side will do.

Yo Mowgli...this discussion may sound hippy to you, but listen, life ain't about collective, it's about individual. At the end of da dizzay, you only care about you, your boss only cares about himself.

If you landed a great IT job with great prospects etc etc - AMAZING, I'm happy for ya, but it still doesn't change the fact that you can get fired on a whim of looking sideways at boss' sidechick or what the fukk ever.

As I previously said, I think if you break your balls and eat shyt for your OWN goal in life, you'll be fine, one way or another. If you grind and invest time/energy into something that SEEMS like an adult thing to do and SEEMS like progress, it may occur to you later down the line you done fukked up.

Not trying to be all scary here but earlier this year I ended up in a hospital, complete false alarm, but I swear to you up until the docs told me I panicked for no reason, I was on my phone, googleing shyt about it and all I saw was "cancer A, cancer B". I cried like a bytch thinkin "so if this is it - what the fukk did I do with this gift of life".

Again - not saying we should all take life so dramatically and make a big fuss out of it - it is what it is, we're here, we live - but we should damn well appreciate it more. We are still living english industrial era breh.

They set up these bullshyt ass Monday Friday 8 hours shyts. And we STILL act as if the world would end if that shyt changes. It's a trap. And it's working. If you don't believe me, check Wall Street monthly bonuses and compare it to your projected lifetime earnings.
i went through a near death experience this year too u speakin to me bruh:mjcry:
