That's the real shyt no poster in this thread or any NY thread wants to admit because of ego. If you search right now for apartments in New York you're not going to find one for under $1,500/month for 1 bedroom.

You womt even find 1 fukking bedroom for 1,500 a month.

Some poster said he paid $1,350 a month for a 600sqft one bedroom in the Bronx and it was a good deal. :mjlol: The Bronx is dirty as shyt and far as fukk from downtown Manhattan and it's still more than a mortgage payment for an entire house in every other state in the country.

Apartments in Harlem are a minimum of $1,800 a month and they look like shytholes. Graffiti all over the buildings, garbage piled up right in front of the door and lining the sidewalks. You pay $1,800 a month for a 500sqft apartment in a old ass building and the first thing you see when you walk out your building is garbage and graffiti? :scust:

Brooklyn and Queens apartments are a minimum of $2,000 a month, and that's for studios. They really live like roaches over there because if you make 75k you're spending 60% of your take home pay on rent unless you have a roommate. Not building equity, not savings, not investing, more than half your money is spent just so you can live in a run down building in a cramped unit, with no car, with garbage on the sidewalk, and rats and roaches in your building. :scust:

It's outrageous that someone had to spend a MINIMUM of $2,500 every single month just to life in a building thats not a complete POS. There's nothing in NYC that justifies that kind of price .

The one poster said it best, they try to justify it as winning just because they're getting raped less. All them east coast guys are getting raped, and they know it.

I do a ban bet that nobody can find an example of a good one bedroom anywhere in NY for less than $2,000/month, it's disgusting. :smh:

Do you live in the city currently or ever? Let me know because some of the mess you saying is far from accurate.

NYC is expensive if you don't plan to invest here. In other words, moving here to eventually settle elsewhere why you try to launch your venture. There PLENTY of spots in the BX that are in great neighborhood ( Highbridge, Riverdale, Parkchester) that are affordable to rent ( 1 and 2 bedrooms, 1200- 1600). Also, you can live in the BX and get to midtown faster than living in Upper Manhattan so what you really trying to say?

Upper Manhattan ( East Harlem, Harlem, Inwood, The Heights, etc) have 1 beds beginning at 1400 however it always wise to wait until the peak season ( summer and beginning of fall) before searching. Queen offers space but commuting will likely be a challenge especially some of the spots out near Jamacia, Briarwood, Jamacia Estates, Etc.

There also development lotto's that will get you in below market rate and fixed rate units as well. This takes longer but it available. Also there the HDFC that allows potential owners to pay low monthly or maintenance cost.

Just like anything else in NY, you have to hustle to make it work and it possible.

I make 60k and I live a good life in Manhattan

Reading some of these responses. I'll say the same thing to people who question the high cost of living in NYC that i'll say to people who complain about rising gas prices.

Get a job that pays better and high prices won't be an issue.

:sas2:
Compare a $30,000/year closet that you will never own and share with roaches, to $4/gallon gas prices breh's.

Living expenses should be a third of your income so 30 * 3 = 90. You'd need 90 grand in cash every year, which means your need to earn 120 grand gross, which not everybody can roll out of bed and do.

$1,500+, for 450 square feet, of a studio apartment. They didnt even clean the floor before listing it.
:wow:
Did you see my post where you could get an actual 1 bedroom, that's twice the size, in the middle of downtown in Chicago, for the same price? Your post kind of just proves my point even more :ld:

If i made 75k, in NY, i'd still be good. Get an apartment at market in brokklyn for 1800. Food? Aldi and postmates. Entertainment? Netflix and chill or live free events at the park. Subway? Breeze card or whatever. Need to get around? Id buy a bike or scooter. Even with all that and more....i'd still be saving hella money. You nikkas just don't know shyt about money management.....a person making 8 bucks an hour could save 500 a month if their expenses were low enough.

I dont know what type of lifestyle most people have but i make just under 70k with 2 kids and im not living check to check or in a shyt hole. Every weekend doesnt need to be a lavish facebook or instagram post.

San Diego
I would love to live in NY, if not for the winters, and the fact I am not from there....I like to just fly in and spend for a few days, and go back to San Diego where my money goes way further, even in a housing crisis, and some of the least affordable real estate in the country, in one of most expensive areas in the city, I am still coming out ahead compared to NYC. I'll be there next month for the Jay concert, dope hotel in LES, maybe a three Michellin spot in Brooklyn.

A few people from NY, well to do, who live here now, said spend in NY, and live in San Diego.

Why Are Wealthy NYers Living In Taxpayer-Subsidized Affordable Apartments?

Behold...the answers to your questions can be located above...

Basically it works like this. Everybody is vying for housing lotteries. How they are supposed to work is people of a particular income (usually 50k and lower) apply to be considered for brand new fancy looking apartments in swanky parts of town for the low low (think Chelsea, Upper East Side or Hells Kitchen for 750 a month). The catch is even though you have to provide proof that you are making the maximum at the time of signing YOU CANNOT BE KICKED OUT IF YOU BEGIN TO MAKE MORE. YOU ARE NOT REQUIRED TO DISCLOSE YOUR MARITAL STAYS EITHER. So if you're a couple that files seperately that's as deep as they go. Hence why people are upset that you even have millionaires living in these apts for regular Joe's and there ain't a damn thing that can be done. Even if they were to amend the laws this very second those people come out smelling like roses because nothing is retroactive

Afford it? :heh:

Got my main spot in the Upper West where wifey stay at. Neighborhood a little slow but decent restaurants :obama:

My trap spot downtown where I be doin the after parties and i can bring hoes thru. I keep my party drugs there cuz my German shepherds be nosy as shyt and I'm not tryna come home to an overdosing dog :whoa:
Also wifey got a bit of a habit especially since she don't do shyt else all day so it's better if it's away from her :beli:

And im payin for my Trini side bytch spot but that shyt in Flatbush so it's basically like her landlord payin me that shyt so cheap :youngsabo:

So yea I can afford living in the city. What's up? You want me to put you in touch w my broker?

If you had the option between getting gas at $4 a gallon vs $2 a gallon what would you choose? The gas is the same mind you, so which would you choose? Give me a simple answer and dont start blabbering. $4 or $2
