Cost of living in NYC :merchant: Can YOU afford it?

DC hitting heads too. I ran from NY to DC. I never live in the main hub tho, always outside...like when I worked NYC I lived in Jersey City, and now I work in DC and live in Silver Spring.

Silver Spring isn't cheap either though right? Hey I been debating between Jersey and Maryland. Jersey has some of the best public schools which are a huge plus. Which would you pick based on things to do, education, affordability and walkability?

I'm originally from New Jersey. Silver Spring is nice and i believe Montgomery County MD has good schools. DT Silver Spring is very walkable.

NJ's suburbs aren't like those urban suburbs in the DMV but middle class areas with high black populations in NJ and downtowns i would say are West Orange, Maplewood, South Orange in North Jersey. honestly Jersey doesn't have anything comparable to Silver Spring or Bethesda in my opinion

i just moved to this area so i can't say for sure. i think food is more expensive here but besides that i'm not sure. i don't think the prices are all that different. both NJ and DC/MD are expensive.

I dont understand the question because its so random that it comes off loaded. U said its the same gas. If I'm traveling down the whole east coast and I hit a different state and the same gas is $2 in one state but $4 in another I'll have no choice but to pay for the gas thats $4 in the state that charges it. Thats the only scenerio I can draw from your question, thats why I dont understand it.

I live in a nice area on the outskirts. We bought our 2-bedroom apt. 1000 sq. ft apt. early last yr. I live on the 20th floor, corner apt for panoramic view for and can see the Hudson River/Washington Bridge/Jersey and the Long Island sound from my place...Apts in this development sell pretty quick. Just randomly asked a realtor who sells for the development how much me and the wife can price our place if we wanted to sell, and her price was 40K more than we got it for.

We're good for now and when we have a kid, but who knows....might end up in a house in the future. This apt was a really good investment though.

At this point in NYC, its not even uncommon for 40yr olds to have roommates.

The south BX is already in the mix of change. Thing are being billed there, they are fixing up the highways. Shyt will change in that area. Some of the BX though, is still stuck in 1995.

If u asking me what I want...I dont wanna pay anything, I want my gas for free. Everytime I hit the pump I want the guy to say..."Just take all u want...its free." Thats what I want. I dont wanna pay anything. $0 a gallon is my answer.
