You Germans are insane. Manstein was bytch slapped by the Soviets.

Taking France and Poland is no bragging rights compared to the rest of the war. That's when the big boys came out to play.

Best general ever :mjlol:

I don't think Genghis Khan, Alexander, Sherman, Võ Nguyên Giáp, and Hannibal can be compared directly, so "best" isn't something I could definitely say.

Hitler didn't send his best field marshal to North Africa, though. He sent Rommel, who had early success by following the tactics that Guderian pioneered.

We might as well throw this in the bushes and just have a new thread for a discussion on Military Generals

What if Germany ended up annexing Switzerland, Austria and part of western Poland?
If they had say 110-125 million inhabitants today and were never occupied. They might have become the most powerful nation in the world.

USA
if they played their cards right
No.
The main reason was their manpower was getting spread thin as they were winning more territory.
They had to leave behind a skeleton crew of sorts in the countries that they conquered. France was kind of loosely controlled by Nazi Germany, but they didn't have enough to prevent an uprising. France, of course, has no balls so there was no military action. The Nazis were fighting on three fronts, UK, Russia and Africa. France was a walk in the park. They could have held onto France, Belgium, Poland and other surrounding small countries and been content with that. But, they just kept on expanding for total world domination.

Germany would have come much closer to taking the Soviet Union had it not been for the lend-lease act. This is according to Stalin himself. Hitler knew that the Soviet Union would get into the war eventually, so they decided to get the jump start, and they made huge gains. The Soviets were in dire need of supplies and vehicles.

Ultimately Hitler's biggest mistake was giving a shyt about North Africa. Sent his best field marshall there. I also don't think they suspected the US to split forces among the Pacific and Europe. The American Generals were god damn brilliant. We may never see generals of that caliber again.
was Rommel his best field marshall?
