MJ would most definitely would have been annoyed with the social media era if he played in this generation and did the exact same things as the 90s but I think his team would have moved better and adjusted to the times

also can we please stop bringing up Lebron as an example. Kobe had a rape case. Jordan had a gambling situation that may not sound serious now, but was a serious accusation in the 90s and was all over the news

props to Bron for keeping his head out of shyt, but he never had situation close to a some of the stars that came before him. Mjs father also got murdered around the time the media started coming after him. As it stands Lebron is still the only player from his generation that’s in the GOAT convo, and he usually is seen as a good guy

MJ wouldn’t be on social media, so the point is moot

Just an observation from someone who has no dogs in the GOAT/STAN debates here nor cares...

It's funny how yall prop up former athletes and say they would adjust to this era shyt while swearing a workout and training machine like Lebron wouldn't survive in a more physical era. Its fukking stupid. But so is yall petty Kobe/Lebron/•Jordan stan wars...
Most of these dudes are just stuck in nostalgia and still hero worshipping the figures of their childhood. It's silly and not to be taken seriously.

You argue facts and they just start speaking in myths and cliches.

:heh:Thats all i was saying.

Bron was treated like a serial killer over a DECISION. Can you imagine they snapped him entering an Atlantic city hotel lobby with Yesjulz or some shyt two weeks before the playoffs?

Breh, Kobe literally just DIED in a a tragic accident with his teenage daughter (RIP) and all this clown azz media could talk about is Colorado. :scust:

Theyd have a field day with MJ. Nah he wouldnt quit the league and commit that, but all that "Like Mike" shyt would hit waay different :pachaha:. Hed be snapping on reporters all the time and would probably be viewed as a villain of sorts... which back then would be seen as inconceivable for a dude like him.
I still remember all them overwraught Woj articles about LeBron from 2010-11. Can you imagine the shyt he would've wrote about MJ's gambling problems? You just KNOW he would've said some slick in an article shyt after his pops died too.

IMO, the social media era doesn’t allow people to get as ridiculously famous as Jordan was. There was an aura around Mike that kinda doesn’t exist. It was in part due to the fact that he was pretty much universally loved because people had no idea what his stance was on anything. The social media era allows athletes to immediately endear or alienate “fans,” by sharing thoughts and engaging with them.

Those of us old enough to know the MJ rumors still place the dude at least top 3. If he had a social media team grooming his every move and publicizing his philanthropy? Cmon brehs:mjlol:

He would've grown up with social media so my guess would be he'd be similar to Westbrook in that regard. And for someone who was an insane competitor, he'd be fueling his drive every day with hot takes and dumb/troll posts :yeshrug:

As others have said, he wouldn't have been elevated to the pedestal he was in the early 90's either nor have that celebrity treatment that was still a thing in the 90's. So the pressure he was feeling back then would have been different in a 2010's setting.

He also wouldn't be considered the GOAT by as many people once his career was finished.

Not going to limit anything to Jordan.

A lot of players from the past would have difficulty with the amount of media scrutiny that exists today. And the TMZ and social media culture amplifies every little thing. Every insecurity. Every slip up.
Athletes would have to adapt quickly.

I think it's ridiculous for old athletes to act like they know what it's like to be in the shoes of someone like Lebron or Ronaldo or Messi...and then to criticize them or act like they themselves would have never behaved or reacted like some of these superstars do.

Back in the day, the athletes you would see that dealt with a comparable amount of media pressure and frenzy were boxers. Ali, Tyson...and we know how much that stuff wore on them

To be fair both MJ and Kobe were scrutinized for personal reasons. Lebron is really only criticized for basketball related shyt.

as it stands, Lebron is considered a Good dude. An activist and a great family man. Kobe was called a rapist and a scum of the earth for years, even after his death and MJ made International news when the NBA wasn’t even that much international yet, for being a gambler which had a very sour reputation in the 90s. He also had to testify in court.

Lebron hasn’t received half of that criticism as a person outside of the Miami debacle and I don’t even think that’s comparable.

Jesus people like to read headlines and not read huh?

Mike would've won 8.
Can you imagine him responding to 10x the shyt talking he received?

MJ yelled at Harp asking him "what the fukk you waiting for?" He also punched Steve Kerr in the face.
Bron didnt say shyt when JR blew the last possession in game 1, then punched a white board and fractured his hand."

Dont compare Bron to MJ anymore.
