What about Dallas or Atlanta would make it a good place to have a GTA set there.

NY you get the giant metropolis on the east coast feel. Reason you won't have a modern one set in Chicago is that the feel would be pretty similar in terms of location.

Miami in the 80's the vibe was just Weather, music, clothes, the beach, Miami Vice

LA in the early 90's you have the music, could draw inspiration from the movies of that era, incorporated Vegas and San Fran.

LA present day you can incoporate Hollywood, the weather, that feeling of emptyness where everybody is there trying to be an actress, that fake feeling.

Like someone said earlier, the GTA series takes a satirical look at American culture. Those 3 cities gives the writers all types of ammo.

Nothing about those two cities' culture would make setting a GTA there interesting.

the cars would fukking suck so bad. them shyts would fall apart the second they hit something. also, you wouldnt have any cool jetpacks or planes since they only shyt available would be a pre-fighter type plane. dont even think jet technology was available back then. the weapons would probably be ass as well outside of a tommy gun, basic revolver and crude shyt, like hand grenades and landmines. basically, no real automatic weapons. and the city would have to be NY, Chicago or even Boston since most of the west was flat and undeveloped, so the map wouldnt really allow you to go anywhere.

and i'm sure the music would be complete trash. there are more stations in the game than what existed in most cities back them. a motherfukker can't ride out to some silent picture fake jazz music.

why in the fukk haven't we got this idea in a game yet!!! i'm gonna say link did on snes but that's not comparable to what you saying.. just how they have the 3 characters.. have each in a different time and they constantly effect each world.. that's the best idea yet
