Couple wires 800,000 down payment to Scammer

I ran across similar scams before when helping friends look for houses to rent. property has FOR SALE sign posted and is vacant. "owner" is in another country on vacation and wants you to wire down payment to get the keys. advise you to not call the agent because they have changed their mind on the sale. tell you to go by and look in the windows of the property to "check it out". sounds crazy but you dont know how many people have fell for this. 775k tho

This and what’s crazy is most title companies, in their emails mention wire fraud and to call in to verify. This happens a lot. People buying homes, doing financial transactions need to be done in person.
