What’s the goal otherwise? Close it down til a vaccine comes, which may never come? The goal was always herd immunity. You just spread it out over months and months. That was always the plan. You’re going to end up with x infections, no matter what you do. Try and spread out the x infections over longer periods so you don’t strain the hospitals. Same number of folks will get Covid. Just over a longer period. Lose weight, eat healthy, exercise, take proper vitamins, get adequate sleep, wear a mask and move the fukk on with life.
Lol shout out the knights but you have no fukkin clue what your talking about...

Lemme guess, you think we should close up shop and months and potentially years on end? That ain’t a solution. If the government isn’t allowing folks to do that by compensating them for their jobs and businesses being shuttered for that entire time period, you have to learn to live with the virus and get on with life. It’s that simple. That’s where we are, and have been, since June. Stay home if you want. Go out if you want. work remote if you want. Work at the office if you want. Send your kids to school if you want. Try remote learning if you want. I don’t give a fukk. Get yourself healthy, because the only path left is herd immunity or a vaccine and you are likely to catch the virus at some point no matter what you do. Can’t avoid it. Can’t hide from it. You will encounter it at some point. You can adhere to 100% of the precautions and catch it from the pharmacist at cvs when you pick up a prescription, or the grocery store, or from an amazon worker, or from someone you live with etc. folks have moved the fukk on, and are willing to take their chances with corona and keep food on the table. If you aren’t ready to, stay home. It’s really that simple

So just shut down the country til a vaccine that might not come also? Life goes on. Not everyone can be a hermit with remote work, employer provided insurance, paychecks coming in still, fridge full etc. I have that luxury. No pay cut, 6 figure job, great health insurance, work as long as I want remote, no debt, no kids, no wife to worry about taking care of, freezer full of salmon and steak. I can do whatever the fukk I want, and stay home however long I want. There’s a large swath of the population that hasn’t seen a dime of stimulus. Not one unemployment check. They want to go back out and work. They will take their chances with a 99%+ survival rate to put food on the table for their fam. They don’t care about anything else. Just like I don’t give a flying fukk whether you stay in and isolate for a year or you are back out at bars this week. People that don’t have the luxury of just riding it out at home with a cushy remote job and no worries of eviction have moved the fukk on and are ready to get their livelihoods back. Stay in if you want. It’s great if you have that luxury. If you don’t, then you make a choice. Starve and worry about whether the heat stays on in the winter if you can even make rent, or deal with a disease that’s killing a vast majority of folks over 60 with underlying issues and go earn a living

Herd immunity doesn't seem very likely. Over time antibodies fade. This isn't shaping up to be something you get once and never can get again. If we don't get a vaccine then this is gonna be like a common cold that isn't seasonal and kills everyone with a weak immune system.

The one hopeful way around the fading antibodies, would be the development T-Cell immunity. Fingers crossed on that being the case for the overwhelming majority of people who come into contact with this fukked up virus and also fingers crossed that there may be a solid amount of cross reactivity, in terms of T-cell immunity that comes as a result of a past infection with other betacoronaviruses. Either way, may God bless us all

SARS-CoV-2 N-specific T cells are part of the T cell repertoire of individuals with a history of SARS-CoV infection and these T cells are able to robustly expand after encountering N peptides of SARS-CoV-2. These findings demonstrate that virus-specific T cells induced by infection with betacoronaviruses are long-lasting, supporting the notion that patients with COVID-19 will develop long-term T cell immunity. Our findings also raise the possibility that long-lasting T cells generated after infection with related viruses may be able to protect against, or modify the pathology caused by, infection with SARS-CoV-2.

Brehs really banking on herd immunity :francis:

The higher the R0 of a disease, the higher thevimmunity needs to be achieved. COVID 19 has a R0 around 5.5 from the studies from Wuhan of a couple months ago . Some other studies say it's around 2.5 so let's say its between 2.5 and 5.5

Rubella and Smallpox have a R0 of 5 to 6 and are both airborne transmitted diseases. The herd immunity for those diseases is from 80 to 85% and that is with vaccination. If we take a R0 of 2.5 then herd immunity is achieved a bit above 50% which means half the population should have antibodies at least (let's not talk about those could maybe fade). The US has had 6M known cases for 350M total population which is less than 2%...

If the world banks on this, we're gonna have a whole lot ot bodies before we achieve immunity. Because without vaccination, it's impossible unless we're planning to stand on loads and loads of cadavers.

My mom been really jealous of people that seem to be moving around socially with no regard, traveling and shyt.

I understand, she’s tired of this shyt even though she know it ain’t time to jump out there fr.

my aunt popped up today randomly.. at the door, saying she wanna see my face.
She was a good 6-7 feet away from the door but mask all down n shyt lol

she holler out, “I think this shyt will be gone by November, the government..something something, blah blah, elections ....”

some people just don’t get it.

I was glad my mom heard her say that though, because now she sees why people are moving the way they moving.. they just don’t get it or are in denial for the most part
