Very eye opening information. Vaccine effectiveness for people in Israel that got vaccinated in January is down to 16%. This means that booster shots are definitely going to be needed bc robust protection from infection doesn’t even last 7 months. The positive is that protection vs serious illness is 86%.

1. low prevention of infection - danger variants, asymptomatic damage/long covid in millions of people
2. low prevention of transmission - vaccine induced herd immunity endangered
3. practical limits on 6 monthly booster cycle
4. older population skew means their group is going to be more pronounced on the negative side than the reduced figures shown here.
5. maybe other (non mRNA) vaccines do not attenuate like this and thus become better choices.
6. "protects against serious disease" is almost Orwellian.

@jj23 john talks about the role of memory T-cells in lots of his other videos. IMO this is a short video just to get the numbers out there. i think he is pretty shaken by them as he expected longer term comprehensive protection. with high transmission rates herd immunity without mass infection gets called into question. and even then depending on reinfection after natural infection. western government strategy hinges on the vaccines.

we need to see more data though.

I hate to say it, but the only thing that could possibly prevent that from happening is that all these anti-mask anti-vaxx idiots might need to just die out at this point.

If the virus goes aheads and runs through them quickly, maybe it will be too quick for another potent strain to form. I'm not a scientist though, and maybe it doesn't matter at this point. Maybe it's gonna happen regardless of if they die quickly or not.

according to John Hopkins University, just over 10% of the U.S. has reported infection.
i'm gonna bump that number up to 20% because not everyone who had it was tested.
half the country is fully vaccinated. that's still a good chunk of the population for the virus
