This morning, I went to vote and I have to say that I'm not a big fan of the new voting system. Had to take a sheet of paper, wait my turn for an open booth, go to said booth, and fill in every square with a dark pen. Then, I had to wait my turn for it to be put into a machine and scanned. The two people in-front of me did not fill in their squares good enough so they had fill it in more. Then you discard the pen in a barrel and get your "I VOTED" sticker and some hand sanitizer sprayed on your hands. It's a small building and luckily there wasn't a lot of people there, but I can see the social distancing thing being a problem. I just miss the turn the dial machine, I guess.
:dwillhuh: I’ve never heard of this

~4% of covid patients need hospitalization. There is strong evidence of long-term effects. Covid attacks immune cells and other organs and your vascular system.

How will that become like the flu?

Wishful thinking on my part.

That said, I do not want to be put into "it's just flu" box :whoa:. Left unchecked this definitely ain't that :whoa:

I'm hoping that with advances in medicine we'll be able to beat this thing like we have with other viruses.

Maybe.. We actually haven't beaten that many viruses but we live in hope.

Personally I see us ending up with a two tier system. Those who are able to get access to effective medicines and those who cannot.

You know how these companies work. Their ideal scenario is a patent on something that you need to manage (not cure) the disease.

Comment from the reddit on this that may be of interest. I've noticed this too. I feel there is purposeful underreporting that is coordinated among the states with the Federal government coordinating it.

God, I want these people gone by any means necessary. They are the type to go see movies and sympathize with the villains. Just straight evil.

It's crazy because if you think about it, there still isn't a cure for cancer or aids. Even with all the money being thrown at this virus, it still doesn't add up to all the bread that's been put toward these two diseases, not to mention how many years they've been studying them either.

:ehh:

The effects of AIDS and cancers are much more systemic than COVID, I think. Plus, cancer is not a single disease; there are so many types that are caused by different things and affect different cells/tissues.

Working on a vaccine for COVID is like working on an old Corolla whereas cures for AIDS and cancer are like working on a mid-engine Ferrari, shyt is much more complex.
