Yo man :mjcry: shyt brought back memories good an bad.
Y’all dont realize how real shyt was in the 80s. Crack is the worst thing that happened to us. Imagine your favorite aunt or uncle or your oldest brother one day turning into a zombie that steals from u constantly. And never returns to their former self. Teachers, pastors, coaches etc, everyone became a fiend in a two year span. As a teenager u had a choice: stay inside where it’s safe from excessive gun play or get of yo ass and get this easy money. Well, most of us ended up dead, in prison or smoked out.. by 21.
This fukking govt placed that shyt in our neighborhoods INTENTIONALLY.
And niccas 30 years later getting paid to glorify it.

Aye Breh, I'm not from NY, so I got some questions:

Is Hell's Kitchen a neighborhood or something?

Where does the name come from?

You said "students were afraid to leave campus", was your college right in the middle of Hell's Kitchen?

:jbhmm:

Hells Kitchen is a neighborhood. Originally it was a dangerous Irish ghetto and then it became a notorious drug infested neighborhood afterwards.

Funny enough it was so violent that some people say the name of the area came from its poor reputation.

I’m reading online that a cop might have referred to the area as Hell’s Kitchen and the city ran with it afterwards.

the name has disputed origins but supposedly something to do with irish gangs in the1800s.

hells kitchen is midtowon manhattan on the westside from about 34th to 59th st, though thats disputed too a bit.

John Jay is a college on 59th and like 11th ave.

i work near by. i walk past fiends on my way to work everyday.

In reference to druggies?

If so then yes because most Parks in Manhattan are good places to be.

Back then parks like these and others such as Tompkins park In Lower East Side and Washington Square Park in West Village were camp sights for people on heron and crack.

@96Blue didnt realize you asked me about the students walking.

John Jay originally was a 2 building school (I could be wrong). Now it has 3 or 4 with one that closed down (this is all facts).

The one that closed down was recently hated by all students because it was old and hot especially in the summer.

But back in the crack days all the students loved that building because they were scared of leaving it out of the fear of getting mugged in the streets while crossing to access the other building.

Actual science isn't smart dumb, but again, if you feel better believing in myths so be it.
No one lost their lives to crack, the people chose that life style and they'll continue in it until they choose to stop it.
They should pull themselves up by their boot straps. We know breh :hhh:

NYC
New York was raw before Giuliani came through and put nikkas on notice. You'll still see people shooting up and smoking rock here and there depending where you are in the city but nothing like how it used to be.

LOL, personal behavior is literally personal behavior.
You want to be better you have to do better, that you seem to think that mindset is wrong says alot about you.
They needed to pull themselves up by their bootstraps. I said we get it breh
