Its funny bc the older men that spent their lives doing labor in the trades never wanted their children doing the same.

They knew the toll it took on their bodies and wanted easier lives for their kids.

Funny how things changed
There is a give and take with everything. Everything has its cons. Those men wanted their kids to be paid well with stable employment. College was also more affordable. They didnt want them to be unemployed or struggling to get by with ridiculous debt.

Now that there are little or no pensions for corporate workers and it’s just 401k or IRA and everyone can set up IRA if you have earned income. The salary has to be high for corporate to be worth it and Companies aren’t paying that well as regulations and shyt is so much more expensive than 80’s 90’s early 2000’s…

Blue collar can earn 6 figures and set up their own retirement account. So why spend 40k a year for 4 years to go corporate? Unless you prioritize air conditioning and sitting down. Blue C for the win financially. Also less corporate games with blue C

They always do bruh. A lot of them are a bunch of know it all's who don't have any real idea what we do out here. They think we breaking our backs out here even though we tell them we hardly ever break our backs or even break a sweat most of the time.

The tech that I worked with last night did not move one muscle and got a full shift pay as a senior tech

It’s insane that some of these guys swear they know so much but they can’t figure out how to stop AI from fukking them over

brotha if there is a movement to suddenly fukk over data centers, by the time they figure out who did it, those data center units are destroyed

certain rooms cant go above a certain temp or they equipment inside of it is destroyed

they will migrate the processes elsewhere, back up and shut down if they see a broad attack.

doesn't AWS store gov db's in physically separate high security buildings?

which is why im telling you, hvac techs/ electricians can topple a data centers by themselves

I mean, the new top dog CS salaries are like $100 mil contracts to create A.I.

I know some of Big Tech interns pulling $300k.

Sad people are downplaying college now.

STEM and an investing account got me setup to pass on generational wealth and WFH.

yeah now those fields will be overpopulated though

Sheeit I'm thinking about right now - all I'm seeing is anecdotes :unimpressed: what percentage of all these tradespeople are out here stackin bread and outstripping desk jockeys :jbhmm: if the pay distribution is tight already, it doesn't justify the big exodus presented in this thread

Brooklyn
My childhood friend has been cutting in Brooklyn since 1996. He started at 14, had a 96 Maxima in 1998, at 16. Had his own condo at 21. Now, he currently has a 1.4 million dollar two family in Dyker Heights.

Two of my other childhood friends are also barbers, a few years older, and they mentored and trained my boy.

My closest friends have been barbershop owners for years. You can make good money if you're skilled and disciplined.

Crazy how things have flipped. We use to look down at Barbers, Repairmen, Plumbers, Carpenters and other blue collar workers. I'm a 80s baby, a lot of shot for the pretty, clean suit and tie jobs. Luckily I got in the IT field when I did. But I have a older that has been cutting hair for 20+ years. And a cousin that's been a plumber and another that's been at a wood mill for 20+ years. All are balling. Been balling. I'm talking season tickets to the Saints. Nice homes and vehicles.

Another advantage I've learning from my barber and cousins. They're able to earn money on the side. Tax free money. I guess IT can do a little tech work outside of work, but you damn near have to be legit for people to trust you.
Gotta get mine done every two weeks no matter what, take my money!

1st Round Playoff Exits
It's all downhill from here because those jobs and 6 figure salaries aren't coming back. The next wave of outsourcing and immigration is gonna wipe out white collar workers. These people will then move to blue collar jobs collapsing that market.
:yeshrug:

The white-collar job market is frozen—now bartenders and baristas are seeing bigger wage growth than desk workers

I’m seeing data analyst jobs being posted for $25-30….

Even now the pay range is capped at like $60 / hr
