My whole perspective with 50 cent and g unit changed when I was working with an affiliates sister in the. Bronx and this girl would always talk about 50 and g unit ties and etc and then one day she collapse on floor and is crying from a phone call and gives me the phone and its a detective and the first thing he says is 50 cent/g unit shyt and that they think this was a hit. Immediately hung up the phone and tried to console this woman who just lost her brother.

Had me going through g unit lyrics and most of the street shyt they talking is legitimate. Thought it was mostly entertainment but they were really going thru a beef and folks cribs were getting shot up and dudes were getting murdered behind the shyt

*sigh* dont wanna say it but yall gonna learn about these rappers and the streets. You hear things here and there for real which makes me just say :hubie:"didnt hear anything, dont know anything". This is why these threads are bad. Just stick to the music, be a fan and mind your business. This is some dj vlad shyt. Cant be talking that shyt on here.

For some reason I thought Slow was a force in Queens before this happened. I was reminded there's levels to the wolves from Queens. Even had BX nikkas do his bidding. Real G shyt:francis:

Queens nikkas is sociopaths and when they link up with BX nikkas chaos gonna break out

People romanticise the past.

Dudes in the 90's probably talking bout 50 aint no gangster, "the real gangsters are the gangsters of the 80's, now them some real gangsters"... just like how generation z will be arguing with a future generation about how their gangsters aren't as real as the ones out now.

Because they weren't on IG telling on themselves for clout.
Because there wasn’t an IG. These dudes were rapping about the shyt and talking about it at every turn. Criminals love attention contrary to what people try to promote. Most of these guys are young dudes who likely only gotten into crime in the first place because they weren’t loved enough as young kids.

My right hand man from Jamaica (Seven) was G-Unit and 823 SGC.

When I met the homie, I was :russ: every time he brought up G-Unit, this was around 2005 when 50 was far removed from the hood

I was 19, he was like 26

When he pulled up with Yayo brother, iced out, and took me on a lick, that :russ: turned into a :damn: real quick

The homie doing 25 years now for some unrelated shyt. Still write, still send money

One thing I'll always vouch for, is 50 and the street nikkas around him, being OFFICIAL

I talked about my homie on the 3rd verse of this song:

Right, they were on major labels telling on themselves for clout :mjlol:

50 got famous naming himself after another street dude and writing raps about flagrant shyt - but that’s better because it wasn’t on Instagram it was on wax? Shyt even Biggie did “I Got A Story to Tell”

:mjlol:

Ehh I don’t think 50 was that big street wise outside of his area. Wasn’t some NY kingpin, I’m sure dudes weren’t cowering at his presence. Probably had more love and respect than anything.

He just had the industry behind him and made good music at the time. The most popular rapper out of NY, transcending Biggie.

What really solidified him was the creation of G-Unit the whole rap group thing and the super thug image.

the ether
I’m old enough to remember the 80’s and early 90’s and horrific shyt was always happening then... innocent bystanders getting hit. Blocks getting sprayed up indiscriminately.

Whether it was more organized and over more legitimate reasons, it was still senseless loss of life and the violent crime rates are still higher in the 70’s-90’s than they are now.

This thread is wild. Some people seriously in there, "It's not the killing that's a problem, I respect the killing, it's the social media posts that are the real problem!"

50 was just as reckless(if not more) than all these drill ninjas these days

The only difference is that he was under the tutelage of OGs in the game like jam master jay, Dr dre, em, etc.

If he came out in this era he'd be no different than a long .com or pop smoke or any other drill rapper.(which he even said himself)
