I use the United Presidential Plus Mastercard. I get tons of miles, as well as the option to get items. I mainly use it for mikes though. Went to Hawaii first class with the wife this year and only paid 120 for taxes...:jawalrus:

good card, I would definitely look into Chase Sapphire though. Potentially more miles and you can convert the miles 1:1 to United, so it's giving you the best of both worlds. Unless you're flying often enough on United utilize their lounge access and you value that over the flexibility Chase Sapphire gets you

You're in Houston, right? United is probably the way down in your area as their HQ is in Houston. United out of Boston is atrocious and such a pain in the ass.

that's why it make sense for some to use broader travel cards - esp the Sapphire or the Barclays world or Capital 1 Vantage (although I'm not a huge fan).

Added my mom as a secondary, who spends a lot and has never paid less than the full balance on any credit, so she adds to my points accrued on my United card.

Wife just got her Chase Sapphire, so we'll get 50,000 points with 1:1 transfer after we spend the necessary money.

I'm going to ditch the old United and get a Chase Sapphire, so 50,000 more points. Also going to get a Chase Ink for my business and get even more points.

Me and the wife will be flying to Europe first class later this year and stay with family in Greece for an almost free vacation.

:lolbron:

Oh and I have never, ever, ever paid anything less than the full balance.

My credit score is near 800.

Yup im in Houston, so United is definitely the best choice for a miles program down here. Not sure what the best airline is up in Boston, but I figured American is probably cool. United goes everywhere, so I'm definitely lucky to be here. Furthermore, the card I mentioned gets you free access to all their presidential clubs all over the world. Nothing better than hanging in the presidential club suite, before your flight takes off...:banderas:

I actually also have the Chase sapphire, as chase gave it to me for overdraft protection but I barely use it. I use mainly by presidential. I'll have to read up more on that Sapphire though. Didn't realize you get 1:1 mile conversion. However, the bonuses with the presidential are pretty awesome. I actually get 2:1 miles if I use the card to purchase plane tickets as well, in addition to buy 1 get on free first class international tickets, as well as occasional free first class upgrades. The card has been fantastic to me so far honestly.

yeah it 's a great card don't get me wrong especially so if you fly United ALOT. I would recommend Sapphire only if you want/need a broad based travel card - meaning if you are doing luxury/international flights other than on United.

So, with Sapphire you get 2X in most categories (dining, travel, etc etc) which is more than United (which is only on united plan tickets and hotels). And you can transfer those points 1:1 to ANY airline and/or hotel loyalty program, that's what makes it so great (plus you get a 7% dividend on miles you earn) so from a mile earning standpoint it should always be > United.

Now if you only fly United then you should keep and solely use the United Card. Somethings United has that Chase wouldn't is
1. Lounge Access (I believe you're paying $395 an annual fees but well worth it for the lounge access)
2. Free checked bags if ticket (sapphire doesn't have this)
3. buddy passes (not sure if this miles related or card related)
4. Free first class upgrades (sapphire doesn't have this)

so if you're flying exclusively united then it makes sense; however, if you want flexibility to use other airlines or transfer to hotel loyalty programs you may want to look at Sapphire, Arrival, or Cap1 Vantage cards.
(speaking Broadly - obviously living in Houston - United seems to be the best way to go by far!)

did you know they closed your card and changed some benefits when they came out with the united mileage club card?

http://milecards.com/3713/goodbye-p...rd-new-united-club-card-may-not-be-identical/

check it out - I think one of the dropped perks was the business class buddy pass.

perfect way to play the game, you partnered the Sapphire with the Ink , the only thing you could help yourself with is if you got the Chase Freedom for the rotating categories (gas, dept stores, drug stores, etc etc) which you could maximize your points. Ink is an underrated card. With all 3 combined, it's like voltron and since the points all go in the same pot - it's a win win.

First class international trip is the PERFECT way to spend those Chase points - you probably are getting 3-5 cent per points, (when the average is around 1-2 cents per point).

:russ: @ the thread title and this

:deadrose: smh

financial savvy teaches you, you won't hit a homerun everyday - you need a lot of bunts, singles, and double to really score. These are bunts/singles to improve your financial health. The 10 - 60% you put in the stock , should be viewed as loss cash/sunk costs. Now what you do with the other % and your revolving credit is what will create the foundation of good financial health.

Why no mention of the amex BCE/BCP

Good for: BCE/BCP
Groceries 3/6% (depending on the version)
Gas: 2/3%
Every thing else 1% on both
