Finally paid off my balance a few weeks ago and they just increase my limit from $10,000 to $15,000 without my permission

This is a good thing. Higher credit limit lowers your credit utilization, which raises your credit score.

Just keep the same spending habits and don’t carry a balance month to month, and your score will continually rise.

For anyone wondering, my credit is bad because when I got dropped out of school I let my student loans sit for a long time without paying them or deferring

same thing happened to me. i let my loans go for a while.

5 years ago my score was like 540. I started small like you did, secured card for $250.

Now I have 3 cards and a total credit limit close to 10k. As long as you are on top of your payments they'll randomly increase your limit.

good shyt op! … I started with a limit of $300 about 2 years ago and now I’m at $21,000 between 4 different cards ….. keep it up, don’t go crazy spending just because you have a big limit.

Some going to hate. Let em. If thats the limit you can get right now, keep it paid off. I only had a $300 Capitol One card 3 years back. I made sure I kept all my payments up and tried not to miss any. If I couldn't pay the full balance, at least clear the minimum. Now I've got $40,000 access from Visa and my bank ($20,000 each). Don't spend beyond your means, and use your card, but try not to max it out, and pay it off quickly if not right away. Check your credit score often. Keep grinding and you'll be great!!
