nah, let a 19 year old goon who was honorably discharged for mental illness be a teacher. let a Vietnam era drill sergeant run a middle school class. it's all good.
Those are the ones who usually scare kids straight.

We all still remember the seemingly meanest teacher from junior high. We all reached out after college, went to visit the kids in his class and thanked him for being so tough.

Visited my a$$hole HS religion teacher too :jbhmm::to:
Got us ready for the a$$holes in the real world lol

i went to k-2 in catholic school. open physical abuse was just a thing. in 3rd grade public school i had a teacher that would pick kids up off the floor by their ears. i am not exaggerating. he got me once but didn't get me off the floor, just out of my seat.

I'm not surprised. This is gonna happen across a lot of industries, in the next decade (baby-boomers retiring/dying off). Now....they're suddenly looking for the millennial bailout/stimmy package, when these old fukks, boxed younger folks out, for the last couple decades.:yeshrug:

You know the phrase...they loved to put on job postings, back in the day....

"EXPERIENCE REQUIRED...":beli:

Now everyone is in panic/desperation mode, and the goalposts are moved. Now it's suddenly...

"We'll take anyone...hurry!" :sadcam:

Folks were trying to get experience,or their foot in the door tho, before.

You allowed these baby-boomers (SPECIFICALLY CACS) to hold onto these positions/jobs, for 30, to 40+ years. Millions, and millions of cushy positions (summers off, fat pensions, barely even teaching, in a lot of places..."Heart not in it anymore", etc). They refused to relinquish these jobs, or let new blood in.

You wouldn't allow younger ppl/generations, to get into these jobs, or integrate them sooner. You've JUST recently, within the last 5-7 years, started to see millennials breach a lot of these positions.

Now the pandemic, exacerbated folks retiring, exposed this new generation of bad ass kids coming into play (raised via social media), bad pay, etc. At least if they would've locked even more younger ppl into some of these positions, years ago, they would've started off running, already. Now all this is coming to a head, at once. Good luck now, acquiring new talent. Everyone wit some sense, recognizes, these generation-z nkkas are full of some bad ass, clout-chasin, emotionally-detached delinquents.

Ppl do their "googles" now too, so candidates are more likely to weigh the risk/rewards, before chasing a lot of these positions, too. Long-story short...its not looking good.:yeshrug:

Morally teachers should least get $50k starting. But realistically I know it can't happen. My local school district has a 6 million dollar deficit right now and it will come with a 5% tax hike. This is happening all over the country so someone needs to figure this out. If the pension system is what's causing it then hard conversations will need to be had. Would the teachers go for a higher salary if that means cutting the pension and going with a 401k model instead? Doubtful, but the teachers union needs to work with the local and state gov to get this whole thing figured out.

I went camping for a few days and was next to a group of teachers on a retreat. Kind of cool to be a fly on the wall and listen. Teachers gotta get in shape though, lot of them looking super :flabbynsick:

What I heard most of all was how the schools have "lowered the bar so much" that keeping a positive spirit is difficult. There seems to be a disconnect between reality (in actual classrooms) vs administrative level. It was kind of sad tbh -
