You said 21 Savage, a man that raps about murdering Black people isn't a c00n but I am. And you're angrily pointing at me to "fix" things while you literally listening to Young Nudy rap about murdering Black people as we speak.

You need to see a therapist.
Go be the change you want to see hoe ass nikka.

Honestly they need to up the pay AND either shrink the class sizes back down to ~25 or put two teachers in a class. Aint no way you gonna jerk me on my pay and have me act as a glorified day care worker having to deal with all that bullshyt. Its a damn shame that most of them have to come out there pocket to provide school supplies.

I just watched a lady on ticktock do a video of an empty classroom and how decorations and supplies had to come out of her pocket. Now she got donations off that video but it was crazy still.
My homegirl just asked if I could order a few things from a Amazon wishlist for the school that her daughter attends. Felt bad for them and spent $100 on some items :francis:

I'm surprised it took this long. Disrespectful bad children who can literally smack the taste out of your mouth and you're supposed to stand there and take it... I don't see how @papa surf did it all those years :wow:

banks was talking about me when he said “I got the patience of a high school teacher”

truth be told the parents and other teachers were more of an issue than the students lol

I hate the idea of working in general but there are definitely worse jobs out there

Even most teachers I know that teach in good school districts are getting pissed. But its less mad about the pay and more upset about being forced to change their teaching methods.

They have to teach their class how to pass a generalized state test at the end of the year......rather than teaching to the individual needs/abilities of each child. In the end, nobody wins

Up the pay by 30k & we won't have a shortage

Problem is, you have to raise taxes to pay them more and you know people won't want to vote for that :francis:

But I agree. Teaching right now is a very unattractive profession for anybody that doesn't already have a passion for it.

No way I'm dealing with a bunch of bad ass kids every day for 38k :camby: I'd work in a call center before that

Only reason the call center is better is the opportunity for growth. Customers are more annoying than kids

They say the average public school teacher comes out about 500 dollars a year in school supplies. I imagine its twice that on the hood.

The only thing that will do is make it easier for the politicians and businesses to embezzle the money they are already embezzling.

Nikka said dated. This is exactly what I'm talking about.

Breh, I don't give a fukk about who you were dipping your dikk into. Unless you're on the frontlines of the occupation, please don't try to tell people who have been what drives us out of the occupation.

And you can go ahead and do the typical Coli thing and get in the last word after being edified. I've said my piece and I'm done with this back and forth.

You're speaking your perspective though :mjlol:

Just because the money don't mean anything to you doesn't mean that's just the case for everyone else. This is The Coli though where people to lump their experiences together and think that it speaks for everyone else around them. You also chill the fukk out on the whining and attitude as I can promise you that shyt isn't going to make your argument any more clearer like you think.
I think it really is on a region by region, district by district basis.

For some districts, teachers are underpaid so money is likely a more of a factor there. In the district that I work with, teachers are compensated MORE than in surrounding districts but the shortages are actually worse. This is an inner city district that has to pay more to be competitive. The teachers that I’ve spoken to do not cite money as a cause of attrition.

@RhodyRum

I’ve spoken with over 70+ teachers in the past 30 days to get a sense of their concerns around retention and their value as teachers and these four things that you mentioned were commonly listed as major stressors and reasons why they would consider or have left the school district or the profession as a whole.

having to lesson plan, instruct, grade homework with inadequate time allocated to do so
(This has been made worse with the implementation of post covid systems like student learning plans and other data tracking mechanisms that are HUGE time commitments for teachers in addition to their typical responsibilities)

budgets being annually cut to the point that you have to pay with your own money to outfit your classroom,

standardized testing being the ultimate barometer of your skills and subsequent worth

and dealing with an administration that will throw you under the bus, potentially fire you if you do not get with the program”
