It's because she serves a purpose in white Hollywood, and that purpose, I feel, is to perpetuate white beauty standards. She's attractive but not in a way that will get your eyes to glance over to her instead of Jennifer Lawrence.

People are low key revealing their own hang ups on race/skintone when they gas her up. It's like they were saying they are surprised that someone that dark isn't automatically ugly.

Always. If a person thinks she looks good cool but I don't like the referendum where if you don't like her its something wrong with you. I definitely think its a race/skin tone thing for most honestly. I once asked a girl who was hyping her up what features of her would take for yourself. She wouldn't take a one but she is so beautiful. I mean if that's the case you'd think she'd have one thing you'd take from her just saying.

I feel this way cause she is my shade, growing up being casted aside for being my shade wasn't easy. So to see her winning, u damn sure know I'm for it. Not only is it cause she is a black woman, but she is brown skinned with short hair. Yay!

Me finding Lupita beautiful ain't got shyt to do with her shade. I'm not even her complexion, I just love her features and I think they're beautiful. Always did even before she got big. Some people just can't accept that and want to over analyze every damn thing
