Might just be me, but i think boldy and Larry are boring as fukk. Their flows/lyrics are not as intricate as they should be considering how monotone their voices are. Make a nikka wanna go take a nap. Sound like le$ tryna be another spitta but haven't done all the prior music to reach that level of completion as an artist. nikkas sound like when you put yo big homie/og on a track just Kuz y'all was lit in the studio together
Boldy's shyt is way more intricate than it sounds like at face value due to his voice. He has a lot of really intricate and complex flows. I didn't think he was that special until I started noticing that a lot of rapper's rappers like (Hov, Royce, Roc, and Earl to name a few) really fukk with him super hard. A lot of his writing complexity is hidden behind how nonchalantly he raps and also how coded his lingo is.

All this pressin' is depressin', the pressure is still pressin against a n***a flesh, it's beyond measure." He's got a lot of not easy pockets like that. And like, he rhymed 48 bars entirely of just words that end in a long-A sound (cake, date, steak, flake, etc) on First 48, and not only did people not find it boring, but 90% of people even notice that's what he did.

Boldy especially stepped it up a lot from in 2021 after 2020. He sounds like a different rapper to me even just from his 2020 work to now. Boldy went from legit just an "eh I don't really get the appeal besides his production" type rapper to legitimately being one of my favorite rappers on some real emcee shyt.

For real, give Boldy another shot on either Bo Jackson or Super Tecmo. Either of his 2021 projects. It took me until then to realize how dope he was as a rapper.

I'll be honest the first time i heard him was on here, and i thought it was Larry at first who is trash to me on many many verses I've heard. I'ma take yo word and check boldy out some more

:salute:

Glad you're open minded on it. I used to think he as super mid too. And I mean his music isn't for everyone, that's for sure. You may listen and still not walk away a fan. Recently I've been capeing for him a little bit on here when I see the specific critique that he's not a dope emcee. Props for keeping an open mind. Listen to the pictures he paints with his storytelling too on 300 Fences and Speed Trap.

Re: Larry June, there's a thread on here called Larry June raps like your washed up uncle. With Larry I legit would never call him a great rapper or anything. But a lot of people have fun listening to his music and his overall vibe.

edit: @KBtheKey
Larry June raps like your washed uncle who hasn't taken off his Adidas tracksuit since 1986

Where The Grass Is Blue
When people skim through the music and not recognize Shante’s greatness :mjlol:. It’s the subtle stuff with Spitta.
“Up in the morning watering my flowers while setting some on fire”
”Boldy just flew in from the Detroit Lions den” simple bar but loved how he mixed in the sports and street references to Detroit:whew:

Its different types of Curren$y sounds

Some of us prefer that brighter Harry Fraud stoner sort of sound

Some of us like the grimier Alchemist experimental, darker production

I like them both if they're done well. I think this project is as good as Regatta

The production on Regatta and on Continuance represents Currensy being dope on both ends of the spectrum imo
Then you have collection agency (trap) Still Stoned on Ocean (Soul beats) PT4 ( Jazzy Vibrant). He’s one of the few artists who gives you multiple sound scapes.
