The obsession with Alchemist's drums on this forum :dead:
:lolbron:

low key, some of it started from me caping for him in 2011/2013, and then I kind of flipped.

As long as it’s dope it’s dope. I’m cool with drums or no drums. When I dislike beats without drums, it’s usually because I don’t love the sample.

This new Ev single produced by Animoss has no drums and I like it more than the Alc single with drums.
:heh: go figure.

I've realised that the problem isn't Alchemist. The problem is the rappers who pick his beats. If he producing for Roc or Earl you can be 99% sure of little to no drums. Whereas if he is producing for Gibbs or Benny you can get at least a 70% chance of drums. :yeshrug:

100.

Even Gibbs likes a lot of lighter drums. But if you listen to what is picked by Conway, Benny, Boldy, or Evidence, you'll almost always get some more traditional bangers.

Lulu with Conway was a lot of new, almost live drum sounds.

Hell, Al's been doing quasi-trap and bouncy type joints recently for Boldy,

Schooling people takes forever; don't bother
This feels like 2012-13 when he was dropping projects left and right and I won't complaint!
I lowkey want to submit alchemist obscure songs for him to sample/flip but I think he prefers vinyl over CDQ like every other 'purist' producer

his 2012-13 output was insane -- the best beats for those years was essentially his shyt...he put down so much groundwork for other producers to re-sample later...

Alchemist needs to step up his A&R producer role and forge collabos like Curren$y X Nas...a lot of these first time collabos paired with great production would break the internet

You can def see his mindset has shifted in recent years and he's all-in on the business side. Vinyl sales, artwork, clothes...he's def building the brand right now, moreso than a decade ago. There's a lot of money to be made here. Not necessarily millions of dollars but look at the Alfredo album.

I think part of this is the influence/presence of Hip Hop, ie Joshua Kyambo. And we know he worked closely with Nas and A&R'd that Nas Album Done project that we never got. Hip Hop said the very first place he brought Nas was to Alchemist's house/studio. Could Nas/Alch be the secret project Nas alluded to? I def think it's possible. And @TheDarceKnight said Nas and Alch got a few records recorded in the last couple years.

Very few are more prolific than these two. So I'm always in for whatever they drop. Especially together!
