@hex i’m about to do a 180 about us not being old man yelling at clouds

The more I think about it I think @choc_cardigan is saying that this has been a trend for a long time and kids don’t care about it. And he’s not wrong.

The younger generation that likes this type of music definitely doesn’t care that much about whether or not it has drums, and at least on my social media feed most of the people I see complaining about drums are in their mid-30s or older.

if you look on other forums, or on reaction videos from younger cats that listen to this type of music they don’t care at all

TBH that's what I'm referring to. The overall drumless wave is loved by alot of people. And it ain't just old men not using drums, cause I don't think V Don and Daringer are that old.

Kids don't care about any of the artists we're talking about.

Obviously there's outliers but the demographic for the type of rap we're talking about, is Gen X and older Millennials.

Muggs, Madlib, Alc, etc. are 44-54 years old.

Gen Z does not give a single, solitary fukk (again, respectfully) about this Curren$y project.

You can't really base anything on reaction videos because "young people react to...." is like a cheat code to get views. Look at the big ass thread Kvng Guap has on here.

If....I dunno, Gunna dropped an album with no drums I could kinda understand the point.

But we're all (presumably) middle aged, sitting here playing the age card over a 40 year old rapper and a 44 year old producer.

It's lunacy.

Fred.

After some reflection, this is what they wanted to do for their 3rd project and I ain't mad at it. It's definitely interesting to see Armand Hammer get more drums than Spitta tho lol
I think they just wanted more of them. Like, this is really the main drumless Al joint in a while. The thing about him not using drums is kind of a meme. Most of his recent albums have been mostly drums. This one and Alfredo have probably been the two softer sounding projects in the past 3-4 years that he’s produced.

There’s a few heavy joints on that Armand Hammer project. I like that one.

I know I’m just splitting hairs. I know that Gen Z isn’t the demographic for this music. I’m just saying that out of any given 100 people that like Currensy and/or Alc, I think me and you are in the maybe 10% that care about how many drums are on the album.

I’m not saying we need to change our opinion or anything

What's the context?
The guy that currensy and Alc used for the artwork on the album cover is a polish guy that it looks like said some pretty shytty comments about the BLM protests in the summer of 2020. A lot of rappers and producers on the indie scene use his artwork. I’m guessing (and hoping after today) that more people in the industry see what he said and consider finding better people to use for artwork

Spitta must have left the cover artwork in Alc's hands because he usually uses CJ Wallis for all his shyt

The thing about drums with Spitta is that his flow is so acrobatic, drums really take him to different flows/cadences. That’s why PT1 and PT2 are so dope to me because the beats are so musical that Spitta is like an instrument alongside them, weaving in and out on top of the drums.

I fukk with this album heavy and it would have been a top 5 album last year. But I def understand the wish for more drums.
