For sure. I did. Doesn't mean that most do, or that the ones who do aren't the exception that proves the rule.

The issue isn't that poverty can't be overcome. We know it can. I'm just more interested in asking why there are so many White kids born on 2nd and 3rd base, while Black kids have to fight so hard to have the chance to swing the bat, let alone get to 1st. That ain't got shït to do with "choices".

Out of wedlock births aren't causal to lower household income for Black families as compared to Whites.

It does contribute, but I would dispute that it's a "very big contributor". Mainly because an out of wedlock birth doesn't automatically mean you live in a single parent home, don't have a father in the home (stepdads exist), or that your birth parents aren't in a committed relationship or co-parenting situation.

It also doesn't mean you're automatically doomed to failure. Neither is it the case that in-wedlock births are guaranteed success.
