There is still a high chance that they take Wentz, and we get what we want in Goff anyways. Wentz does not want to be in CLE and I don't think we want him here either, so if there is any positive out of this situation, it's that we are either getting Goff or fill a different need. We have needs all over the field so whether we pick Ramsey or Buckner or Jack or whoever we are getting the best prospect for an important position.
Jack not running or hosting a Pro Day scares the shyt out of me. Goff would be OK @ 2 but I hope some team loses their shyt (SF?) and trades up. Best way to fill our numerous holes is to add extra picks and hit on them.

One of Ramsey, Buckner, Bosa, Jack will likely be around at 7.

A thought exercise: what would you want in return for Joe Thomas? I'm in favor of going scorched earth and stacking draft picks, but LT is a tough position to fill and though he's 30, Thomas has been a rock.

Think you just keep Joe for now. RG3 is going to need him lol. This trade works in our favor because the front office was smart enough to sign RG3 and give us some flexibility if the QB we want isn't on the board.

Not really.

I guess I underestimated the stupidity of some of these teams. Trading that much for either one of those QB's doesn't make a lot of sense. Would love to get a deal like that for the 2nd pick.

Cleveland Browns: 1-15. Where will the wins come? Find them. There is no opponent on the schedule that says "Browns win." In fact, no other NFL nation reporter is picking their team to lose to the Browns. That puts 0-16 on the table. Yes, the draft is ahead, and the team has time to improve. But today, that's the view of the Browns. The only win is projected based on law of averages. They have to win one game, right?. -- Pat McManamon

If this happens with the youngest team in the league, I can't even be mad as long as some of the kids show potential.

If Goff is gone @ #1....

2. Deforest Buckner DE, Oregon:

This guy is a beast. Pair him and Shelton together and I think this solves our long-term issues stopping the run. Against the pass he gets great bend for a guy his size (6'7 290), uses his hands nicely and truly is a three down player. Buckner will finally allow our LBs to play in the space needed for a dynamic 3-4 defense. I'm sure this guy is #1 on many teams' draft boards.

32. Trade down:

I think the Browns trade down, add another 3rd + 4th rounders

2nd round pick after trade down..

Sterling Shepard WR, Oklahoma :

I originally had Von Bell here but he's a SS in the league and I believe the Browns are committed to Campbell this season in that position. While I expect a strong run of WRs to happen in the 2nd round, I think Sterling will be available when the Browns get to their second round choice. This guy is electric. Catches everything. Has short area quickness and displayed long speed at the combine. While smaller, the guy is tough and is way more an outside WR than just a slot option.

The more I think, with Shepard's ability to immediately fill the punt returner role, Browns may just take this guy at #32 IMO.

1st 3rd rounder...

Cardale Jones QB, Ohio State:

This is the exact type of prospect Hue wants to develop. Cardale has 1st round physical tools plus underrated accuracy on the second and third levels of the field. You can't teach that. You can help a QB seeing the field, but you can't teach him to how to make elite stretch throws even when the game slows down. Cardale has Big Ben potential. He's a steal in this spot, plus you keep him out the hands of a division rival.

Second 3rd rounder...

Tyler Boyd WR, Pittsburgh:

Boyd is not a workout warrior. He doesn't have exceptional measurables (height 6'1.5) or track speed, but put the tape on, he looks 6'3 and gets open consistently. Moreso than that, the guy catches the ball in traffic (9 3/4 hands). He plays with a high IQ. Uses his hands well to create space and has a wide catching radius. He is essentially Dotsun-lite.

I'll do the 4th round picks later, but I believe with these four players, the Browns will start to form the nucleus of what we want to be in the future... and that's an attacking defense that stops the run and has the personnel who can play multiple positions in a multitude of schemes.

Shepard and Boyd will be mainstays of offense (both 22 years old), and will be supplemented with further picks in the 4th round.

Stay tuned.

:yeshrug: They gotta just take the qb that is left and move on, fukk it, take Goff/Wentz and pick up Cardale in the4th, I don't care...we can't be in this same spot next year, hoping to pick up and develop a rookie qb. FWIW the rams beat writer who called the Bradford/foles deal and a bunch of other Rams moves had said their all in on Wentz. I'm fine with goff, Wentz or lynch if hue thinks he can develop them:manny:
