Rose's biggest problem is that he only got by on his athletic ability. He was an insane athlete even by NBA standards but he struggled at controlling the game, his vision and playmaking, defensive positioning and awareness, etc.
I don't remember Francis or Marbury ever being considered the best/top 3 PGs of their eras, especially not Francis
In his MVP season nobody was naming 5 players better than Rose and many felt he'd land as one of the GOATs by the time he retired because of how young he was winning an MVP. Penny was more skilled but let's not act like Rose was just an "All-Star level" player when he was more than that.Maybe I’ll compare him more to baron Davis than Steve Francis.
But it was a different era.
Not saying rose didn’t have competition but skills wise he’s more like the players I listed and definitely not as skilled as penny in any part of his game.
There’s a difference between being considered one of he best PGs and one of the best players in the NBA and potentially one of the GOATs
.

Feel worse for D-Rose because he had that LeBron rivalry building.
