Rose's biggest problem is that he only got by on his athletic ability. He was an insane athlete even by NBA standards but he struggled at controlling the game, his vision and playmaking, defensive positioning and awareness, etc.

I don't remember Francis or Marbury ever being considered the best/top 3 PGs of their eras, especially not Francis

Maybe I’ll compare him more to baron Davis than Steve Francis.

But it was a different era.

Not saying rose didn’t have competition but skills wise he’s more like the players I listed and definitely not as skilled as penny in any part of his game.

There’s a difference between being considered one of he best PGs and one of the best players in the NBA and potentially one of the GOATs

In his MVP season nobody was naming 5 players better than Rose and many felt he'd land as one of the GOATs by the time he retired because of how young he was winning an MVP. Penny was more skilled but let's not act like Rose was just an "All-Star level" player when he was more than that.

Those 2 years Jordan was gone - 93/94 and 94/95 seasons - seemed like everyone had a penny jersey. Everyone loved dude. He was a superstar beyond basketball. Even up to the 96-97, he was still beloved. It was crazy. Even Jordan loved him.

Penny dropped 40+ back to back vs the #1 defense in the nba in the playoffs with no shaq & use to give mike and pip that work(dropped 38 primarily on pippen in the ecf). Penny had next(take the mantle from mike next) until his knee injury, rose was just marbury reincarnated

Rivalry implies competition. Rose wasn't even as good as 2nd or 3rd year Lebron, much less Heatle Bron.
