This nikka got the tags all fukked up! I added it to iTunes and it didn't create one Basement Album. I wonder why that shyt happens? I even used MusicBrainz to try to fix the mp3 tags and it still did that shyt.

Listening to this.....man if they never broke up, RnB as we know it today would probably be completely different :wow:

In a sense, this crew did change R&B. Considering that Stevie J. worked on hits for Mariah, what Timbaland did with Aaliyah, Ginuwine's song "Pony" being something completely different than what was out at the time, Missy writing for some of the biggest R&B acts of the time. Same goes for Static of Playa.

DeVante might have faded into the background, but it's still :mindblown: at what all of these artists became. Each of them blew up and became influential and impactful to some extent in Hip Hop, R&B, and even in the Pop realm. He has to be proud of the talent that he discovered and helped to develop.

this was before all that. this is circa '92-early '96.

aalyiah was put on by her uncle barry hankerson(blackground records owner) and he was r.kelly's manager, so he put aalyiah in r.kelly's stable. kelz blew her up but they started f*ckin so that was the end of that.

swing mob dismantled in like '96, right around when aalyiah was starting on her 2nd joint and she needed a team. timbaland linked up with blackground records and the rest is history. aalyiah clicked up with the members that stuck together(missy, timbo, magoo, ginuwine, playa, etc) but she wasnt around the real swing mob. she was in r.kelly's crew back then.

is DeVante the GOAT RnB producer...or is it a tie between him & R. Kelly?

by goat, i take it that you mean just modern-day r&b cuz r&b's history is way too deep for that.

i'd give it to teddy riley, but i think devante couldve passed him up if he stuck around longer.

Nah I'mma give goat rnb producer status to quincy jones. Till this day no ones outsold Michael Jackson's thriller. My second runnerup is babyface. Toni braxton's first album had a hit single on each track. That shyt is nigh impossible these days.
