Babyface is more a producer in the hip hop sense than Quincy. Quincy often didn't come up with melodies or play any instruments. He "produced" what was already there in a skeleton beat. There's genius to that but he worked with other geniuses. Quincy produced the way Brian Eno would with bands who largely created their own soundscapes but Eno controlled it.

Someone like Babyface is writing the song, playing instruments, programming the drums and doing what Quincy did.

The amount of talent that came out of this camp is incredible... People brag about the OVO camp today, but that shyt is lightweight compared to the cats who came out of Swing Mob.

The impact/influence that Timbaland, Devante and Stevie J had on R&B production in the 90s and 00s--and even now through their influence on guys like Noah "40" Shebib, Drake (particularly the down-tempo Take Care and Nothing Was the Same era), The Weeknd (TRILOGY), Bryson Tiller, etc., is undeniable.

Then you have the songwriting of Missy, Static, etc. Who knows how many classics hits those guys were behind.

Got to give it up to Devante for being able to recognise the amount of talent he had in his hands and helping mold them into the legends that they are today.
