Jay doesn't talk about Roc-a-fella, no one does. Don't get what dame is trying to say. Then you have people arguing that Jay is not trying to erase Dame but is isntead trying to erase the roc completely. Again no one talks about that shyt.

Id be stoked for an oral :dame: history on the roc or like a box set of all the releases. But there's not enough of an audience to.justify it.

Dame got too many things that are actually good stuff business wise
Like what?

Dame is telling the truth but people aren't going to want to acknowledge it.

The thing that people aren't speaking on, is that a lot of the leftover people from Roc are scared to stand next to Dame because they don’t want to piss off Jay. They act like Jay would cut them off for doing that. This is how scared they are. Dame is one of the most loyal dudes, so he's always expected that in return from people. Problem is, in the music business, people run to the money. Jay is winning now, so a lot of people that used to be up at Roc are shook to even be around Dame because they want to be in Jay's favor. I've seen at least 10-12 of the people from the label do this, and they're all people that Dame actually hired. Freeway's the only one that I still see around, when I see Dame.

It's foul. But it shows you how fake the business is, and how these people really aren't your "friends". There's people working for Jay now who act funny with Dame like he did something personally to them during their time at Roc. They have bills to pay, so they'll turn their back on whoever in a minute, if it means they'll stay good with someone who can help them financially. That's what this is, and even though I don’t always agree with Dame speaking on it 24/7, how he's being treated by the same people he helped and supported for years, is mad f*cked up.

Dame holding onto the RD ownership keeps him in the Roc history. Jay to this day must feel a way about not owning the full rights to his first and arguably his best album. No celebrations of it's anniversary no re-releases all because he doesn't want Dame to benefit at all from it. Shame because I would love the vinyl to be pressed again
The album doesnt deserve any of that because no one cared about it on that level when it dropped lol

we all know which debut albums had a huge impact on hip hop and the fans when it was released...Reasonable doubt isnt one of em

Dame is not wrong. Anyone can see Jay is erasing Roc era from history, but as another poster said, Jay's the victor, so he's earned that right.

However, Dame has to move on. I know it gets difficult when he's always going to be tied to Jay, but take the time to plug something else.

In time, perhaps history will double back on the Roc, and Dame will get the praise he desires.

Hell, there was a time when Dre & Cube erased NWA from history. Eventually, they made their way back. But it's common in the industry
this was a response to an irv gotti interview though
how come irv can speak on him and he cant reply?
yall not even playing fair

Ok but why don't Dame just surround himself with the people he considers loyal. Even nikkas like Jimmy and Cam seemed to stop fukkin with him. Why is that?

That's the thing, the people he's speaking about, he did consider to be loyal, at one point. Which is why he's so hurt by their actions. He saw these people as family. You bond with these people and grew through adversity together and build something with them, and help them when they need it, only to see them turn their backs on you later. That's wild. So I can see why he's having so much trouble accepting it. It's just that everyone doesn't live by the same code he does, and they'll do whatever to get by. Even betray people who put them on.

Dame and Cam will always be cool. They grew up together. So they always have little disagreements every couple years. It's been that way since before Roc wasn't even a label. They'll be good again. Jim was never really Dame's man. He just got affiliated through Cam when Dame brought him over to Roc. He doesn't have the same history with him.

Its cause you not from New York so you dont really know what is going on. Hov been hosting a "Book Of Hov" event at a library here for the past month.

In this library it pretty much chronicles his life and career.

Then at said event you are having statements like this from people who went there. :francis:

When I went to the book of hov joint in the bk library there were no photos of dame or Kanye

He did a whole 10 year anniversary concert for it after the split, and there has been a documentary about the album released. Also, as Dame stated, Biggs did a clothing collection inspired by it for its 20th anniversary. I don’t think they need, as the control 2/3 of the rights to it.

I remember Jay said the reason he took the president of Def Jam posting is because Dame & Biggs wouldn’t give him their percentage of the Reasonable Doubt masters.

Not true. Jay was going to take the position whether they gave up their portion or not. It was Roc-A-Fella records he would be giving them instead.

Jay got offered that position because during his career, he never cashed any checks from Def Jam, as he felt the money he made ghostwriting, touring, and being 1/3 CEO of the Roc was enough to live off. When he retired years later, and came to Def Jam to finally cash in on this large sum, it would financially cripple the company, so they offered him to be CEO and President of Def Jam, full ownership of Roc-A-Fella Records, while also receiving the masters to all his other albums at the end of his tenure.
