Thought I was losing my job today, got called for a meeting with like ten other folks suddenly the Vice President and human resources manager are there and they tell us our positions are being terminated dec 28 ......palpitations, fuk these Cacs, thoughts of potatoes in mufflers etc

Then it was we still have a spot in the organization but were being redeployed to other positions

Got sent home to think about what position to take, as ill be back to padawan status

Thinking of applying at new places this like opened my eyes I could have got canned today I was so comfortable in my remedial repetitive job when your just a damn number to them.

Thinking of taking a vacay I went nowhere this year just work work work for a company that's throwing me in the bushes and getting rid of my senior status

this is one of the reason why i'll never just take a desk job somewhere. not only is it mentally stagnant (or it's easy for it to get that way), companies have the ability to terminate you at the drop of a hat. it doesn't encourage you to work harder for more. it lulls you. i'm just not built for that. i mean, last night i was a sub in a gig and i had to read all the charts on the gig, charts i had never seen before. and i had to play them in front of a crowd of people that paid $20 a piece to get into that venue (most of the were neurologists since there was a convention in town). never played with the band before, i'd seen them a few times though. but shyt like that makes you stay on your toes and focus on being better. you'd never have that type of field interaction at a desk job...
