You serious? Go anywhere there is a big tech or engineering company. Grew up near P&G headquarters and Indians are all over the place.

I don’t be seeing them. They’re like ghosts to me. I see Asians and Indians working at various places but, I never see them just out and about with their family or in housing developments. I be wondering where these muthafukkas live :pachaha:

Houston to LA like I'm Robert Horry.
This is a great discussion and great topic. Most folks in here aren’t “wrong” just two sides of a coin. African Americans have had an experience in this country that historically can’t be compared to any other group except maybe Indigenous Folk. Our path by nature of slavery will be different than immigrants who come in bringing their BEST with a clear objective to hustle and grind. That historical context can’t be ignored and should be brought up when a Non-Black tries to get froggy talking about “bootstraps”

THAT BEING SAID. We can’t use that as a reason to not get out there and make something for ourselves. At some point we have to make a conscious decision for ourselves that regardless of our history, regardless of the racism, the bs, etc. I want to do better, not for THEM, but for ME. This has been proven time and time again(just look at our ancestors), you will get further in this life grinding it out regardless of circumstances than waiting for the White Man to do right by you. Especially in today’s society, though not fair, is still a hell of a lot more opportunistic than what our folks had to deal with 50 year ago. Internet age makes it even easier. Racism ain’t going nowhere, but most folks are capitalist driven and if you can provide value, someone going to pay you what your worth. That in turn puts you in a unique opportunity to put other black people on in ways such as; mentorship, job opportunities, real estate, you name it. You doing this for 5 folks and those 5 folks do it for the next generation is how we begin to create positive cycles. Can’t ignore history but gotta rise above it for our own well-being

hence why India is at the top

shyt is not complicated b

i'm not tryna live 4 generations deep in one crib to juke some stats :hubie:

Why not when you see that it works to advance their next generation to levels above the present one? The only people that are not bound by the need to do this are the oppressors. We need to follow these examples set by other cultures that don’t champion the individual over the whole and get our weight up. We have to stop acting like we’re on a level playing field with whites where we can be individualistic and thrive like them on a large scale, it’s impossible without working together. This is what real group economics is, not individualist capitalist businesses that enrich only a small segment of our community. That only breeds envy and animosity in our communities that leads to our current dysfunction as a people. When we understand this we’ll rule the world again, righteously and equitably for all, at that.

my people do this too and many Africans do but we don't pile up into one house. we have family compounds. so no it doesn't have to be THEIR WAY. their way is not fit for everyone. they are not happy because of this lifestyle either just because it is a tradition. they have no personal space. abuse is very common in Indian families and so forth. from elder abuse to spouse abuse.

it's a pipe dream to tell people that they should live miserably in order to accomplish something as a collective. that's not the only solution and it's not a once size fits all type of thing.

again i will stress that those stats were not about family income but household income. if you have the mentality to do this you can achieve it by turning your home into a rooming house. that's all they do. have hella people piled into a home mattresses on the floor. people sleeping in shifts still working shyt jobs stacking up towards their goal. if you can stomach any of that go for it.

i'm a practical person. i don't believe that shyt is appealing to anyone in here who is claiming we should follow that model. that shyt is just idealism. none of y'all would live like that.

Okay, I see you took my post out of context and then cherrypicked parts to misquote or misunderstand. I don’t mean we need to follow Indians specifically, I meant we need to follow non-Western cultural models in general. A family compound is in the same frame of mind as an individual house Bro, but first you have to build capital to purchase a compound. I’ve seen multi-gen Mexicans begin to live in a house on a piece of land (1/2 acre to two acres) and then over the course of a few years more houses being built on that same land.

The next generation of those cramped, overworked (miserable, as you said) people are leaps and bounds ahead because of the previous sacrifice of the generation before. Don’t willfully act like my comment doesn’t have merit and isn’t a viable path to communal success in this country more-so than getting it individually and having to separate from your people because of envy and hate.

Edit: And I’ve already lived like that. When I was young my Ma, Lil Bro, and I lived in my GMa and GPa’s house with my crack addicted auntie’s two children, and my auntie fresh back from living in Flint for 5 years with her 7 children. This was a 3 bed house, Homie. All the boys slept on the floor, we went to the city pantry every week for food, and shopped at Salvation army. A lot of us already live like this Bro and build the next gen further than if we started out on our own, it’s not some outlandish idea.

yes but that first generation of have nots come from a background where they can stomach that type living.

to pretend that the average westerner can do the same is the pipe dream. the motivations are entirely different. unless you coming from nothing you have a bottom you not tryna hit. when you come from nothing everything is tolerable and a step up. someone who has been living in abject poverty with no regular income missing meals is going to be willing to put up with shyt you just wont that's a fact. that's why they take jobs most of us wont at rates most of us wont and live in ways most of us wont. you can admire the self sacrifice and it's fruits but can you really stomach it? my only question in this entire thread.

how many of US are going to realistically live like this BY CHOICE?

Having capital to fund your dreams is important and it's not coming from a dollar and a dream like you're trying to make it seem.

A patriarch comes to America with money and makes a way for the family.

People who come to America with money and a network to work inside of are going to do better than people who are targeted for instability. Why would you attract foreign investment and then drive it away.

there are tons of people working their ass off in China who are still poor as shyt. It has nothing to do with striving for success. A quarter of their population lives in poverty poverty.

A quarter of all China are lazy? That's more then the entirety of the United States.

Thank You

Check my edit of the previous post. I have and am willing to do it again if it means that our progeny can ball. It’s the destination, not the journey, to get there that matters. The fact that we say we “can’t” or are unwilling to is our biggest obstacle to power here. The “It’s better for my situation” mindset is a European concept that neglects the entire idea of family and community.

Stunting should really be looked down upon. In stable, healthy communities nobody does that toxic shyt. If you’re rich you enjoy your money in peace and quiet and practice philanthropy

:mjlol: That’s a fukking LIE. I live right down the street from a affluent white neighborhood and them Cacs be stunting HARD.

people who left the church are not coming back and it will continue to grow irrelevant. take all the organization and move it outside of religion. keep the values and build from there. "christian" values can be a way of life regardless of spiritual belief. they are the base information and foundation of the rules that govern us despite church and state being separate.

I get what you’re saying but you can’t pick and choose what you want from religion without the theological background.

Christian morals come from God. Without God what is the basis of morality?

the basis of morality can be true enlightenment. doing right and knowing wrong because of understanding not fear of punishment. you say this as if there aren't cultures who have morality not founded in religion. just because people are not in church or religion does not mean they are "without god" god is in our actions. in the way we live not what we speak or where we congregate.

most of the people on that very list we are speaking of have similar moral values still and they don't come from any major religion. Not in India or china or Japan or taiwan... so that disproves the idea that without holding on to the church we are lost. religion has failed and you looking backwards. churches are not growing their congregations anymore...

Them stats are funny style. When the last time you seen Indians and Asians in the suburbs in great numbers? Not saying having you have to have a big 5 bedroom house to be well off but, you should still see some people living that way. I’m just saying you go to any nice suburb and you gonna see a ton of white people but its rare for me to see a family of Indians or a family of Asians or a family of Arabs in those areas. I’m always shocked when I see a Chinese family out and about :pachaha: I live in Delaware, and have lived in Philly, Maryland, D.C., Georgia and Tennessee before for reference :yeshrug: A lot of these Asians are either stacking up together multiple generations deep in the same house so they’re goosing those wealth statistics or they’re getting money but chose to live beneath their means.

They usually stay among themselves, and maintain the area. There are parts of Jersey where the signs are Korean, including entire retail plazas, and I’m pretty sure they own the local banks there
