We got to stop trying to put people into boxes they don't want to be in.
"Black" is a catch-all term that was given by white folks to Americans of African descent that were brought here via slavery.
Sure, those islanders were brought to their respective islands via slavery as well, but a lot of them don't want to be included into a catch-all term with American blacks .
Jamaicans want to be Jamaican. Dominicans want to be Dominican. All of that Pan-African stuff is a pure fantasy. It was never Africans talking about it en-masse, but more like race hustlers or naive black Americans who felt like they wanted to 'go home' and if they ever visited Africa, they found out that they weren't 'considered them.'
American "black" folks have accomplished more than enough and can stand alone. No need to continually try to bunch others into a group they don't want to be in.
