"shythole country"
"shythole country"it did get pretty bad during Sandy but that was a pretty major hurricane. i think as a natural disaster it was more severe than whats going on in TX right now and NYC was better equipped for itI don't recall ppl in NYC being this desolate during Hurricane Sandy
Not this extent. What is going down in tx can happen in any state. If nyc was hit by a hurricane you would see how much the leaders skipped over things that could have prevented things
probably don't use a lot of insulation in their building based on location or something of that nature.Cheap material that is why Texas housing is very cheap. I also heard the soil for texas isn't that great.
Insulation requirements are very different that what would be expected in northern states and Canada. Furthermore, most houses are built to dissipate heat (vaulted ceilings, with vents in the attic designed to push hot air out.)
Works well if you’ve lost power during a hurricane, houses are quite liveable for a couple of days without AC, especially if you have a gas range.

Places that have winter cannot afford to be this unprepared.

the pipes should really not have burst unless it was well below freezing.
edit looks like it was what I thought
global warming about to make whole states overhaul building codes if this becomes regular

austin is usually in the 40s to 60s in the winter.Call me an ignorant New Yorker.... But I thought Texas was a hot state that only got as cold as 85 degrees.......![]()
Is there nay explanation on what the hell these buildings are made of to cause them to be freezing inside like this? Like we've been thrown straight blizzards on the east coast and I ain't never seen no shyt like this.![]()

places like minn and gb dont seem to have a problemIf it’s freezing cold and you don’t have heat, pipes are gonna burst. Doesn’t matter if you’re in Texas or Milwaukee....doesn’t matter if it’s “cheap material” or whatever nonsense babble y’all got going in on this thread lol.
