We just view it differently, then. I don't see the offense changing; rather, I just see them bringing in a cheaper, younger version of Welker. Their offense will still revolve around the 2 TE sets, with Lloyd and Amendola as the wideouts. Ballard is mainly insurance for injuries to either TE, but he'll see the field some to give them breathers too. I think it was a great move for the Pats, bc they'll get the same production from a younger, cheaper version of the same type of player.

You very well might be right, I'm just speculating at this point because who.knows what :beli: is planning. I just expect a revision of welkers role as opposed to a carbon copy :yeshrug:

If what he's doing can be so easily replicated, why have teams generally failed to do so? Even team's that have/had former Patriots coaches on their staff?

I'm not a big fan of Welker at all but there are very few teams if any that wouldn't welcome his production. If all it takes is a Danny Amendola you'd think in a copy-cat league someone would've copied already.

:what:

Because those teams or coaching staffs didnt have Brady

Manning and Welker=:wow::myman:

What is amazing about this combo?

Peyton is lethal no matter who his spot WR is?

Yet hes a "system wr" and you can replace him with any halfway decent wr :beli:

Anyone who thinks this way is an idiot its a huge hit for the Pats anyway you look at it

:mindblown: do y'all nikkas not pay attention to this sport?

If your QB is playing at a high level who the WRs are don't matter

Peyton, Brady, Brees, Rodgers have list WR who y'all think matter every year and every year you see that WR doesn't matter if you QB plays at an elite level.

I look at it like, Welker does two things really well.

He runs crisp routes and always knows exactly where to be.

He gets up after 99% of the big hits.

Of course your going to miss that if you Tom Brady and the Patriots.

However, as a Pats fan, I think its become apparent that he's almost become a bad habit for Brady at this point in his career. The past 2 seasons there have been several times where I've been able to see other receivers open, other patterns have more YAC opportunities, etc. and Brady is locked in on Wes at the snap.

He has also gotten the shyt knocked out of Welker at least 2-3 times a month by throwing it to him anyways instead of looking through his other options because he feels so comfortable with Wes.

I think the writing was on the wall last year when they were trying to move Hernandez around and minimize Wes. I think Josh and Bill think in order to win the big games in the post season, they need to have a bit more diversity in the passing game. When the good defensive teams with good LB'ers and safety's come in, rush 3-4, clog the middle and throw off their blitz schemes, it makes Brady have to look beyond Wes, and he gets happy feet when he does.

I think it will hurt in the first 6-8 weeks and Wes will look great in Denver, but eventually it will be a positive for the Pat's if they keep guys healthy and bolster the WR corp with the right players.

Elway has really shown his prowess for recruiting and making the right personnel decisions over the last 3 years. Just this year in free agency alone...

Welker
DRC
Knighton
Vasquez

Now all we need is a RB, DL or BAP in the draft... we're set.

The D (where it's so cold)
what a traitor fakkit, he's gonna be so overpaid to be a 3rd reciever...wont even crack 800 yards

In that division? If he stays healthy and Broncos use him in the same manner the pats did, dude will beast. Shocked New England didn't match that offer, dudes really worried about that 12 million like that? Well worth the risk, but hey it's not my money.

Broncos are a real problem now with Rogers-Cromartie and Welker, that horse face GM over there is killing it.

Well, this changes things a little. Danny Amendola signed with the New England Patriots on Tuesday, about a day before Wes Welker agreed to terms with the Denver Broncos.

News of Amendola's agreeing to a deal with New England broke after the Welker news, making it seem a reactionary move on the part of the Patriots. In reality, the Patriots' reaction came when Welker and his representatives made it clear they would test the free-agent market. With Amendola's contract in place, the Patriots could not afford to let him leave without signing and risk losing both him and Welker.

The Welker camp remained steadfast that the receiver's market would be in the $8 million to $9 million-per-season range. New England disagreed, which in part led them to prepare for Welker's departure.

And once Amendola agreed, there was no turning back.

This actually makes sense now. So Welker told them he was looking for $8-$9 Mill per, Pats said, no....he went out looking for it, they had Amendola in for what they WANTED to pay and while Welker was shopping they signed him first to make sure they got something for the money they slotted. That's why Welker took that Denver money, he lost all his leverage and had to take what they offered unless he wanted to go to a shytty team.

Wes Welker goes from cold Patriots to Broncos' warm welcome - NFL.com

Peyton's most productive years in Indy were when he had Marvin (Harrison), Reggie (Wayne) and Stokley. Here's something creepy for you: What numbers were Marv, Reggie and Stoke? What numbers are Bay Bay (Demaryius Thomas), (Eric) Decker and Welker?" Yup. Thomas, Decker and Welker wear, respectively, Nos. 88, 87 and 83 on their jerseys

Manning is a class act, even though I ain't no fan of him

As for for Wes, :aicmon:

He's a perfectionist wants to build chemistry on and off the field. Went to go see Harvin Marrison in Philly. Told America he isn't the same in Indy as he is in Philly :merchant:

Both parties should be indifferent after this one. Welker gets to be paired with another good quarterback that can give him plenty of looks. and Brady gets Amendola who is pretty much the same role as welker, had a big year last year before getting hurt. Just hasn't had too much time to prove himself yet

There's a difference between you saying WRs don't matter when the QB is working at a high level and saying Welker is average etc. You don't accidentally catch 100 balls 5 times over your career. Teams weren't just putting nobodies on him. They were actively trying to stop him and he still got open and made catches.

Wes is a legit WR and anyone saying the contrary is an idiot. He started to show potential in Miami then NE scooped him up.

Amendola replaces some production up to a certain extent because Brady is that dude, but to downgrade Wes because of Brady? That's a little silly.
