Nah, what was Lamar supposed to light it up with? It’s easy to give Lamar the benefit of the doubt when you recognize his supporting cast was non-existent.
Honestly, that narrative is BEYOND tired.
His supporting cast was good enough for them to win 14 games when he was winning the MVP in 2019 while leading the league in TD passes. It was enough for him to win his first playoff game in 2020 -- during which they were a top 10 scoring offense -- before Lamar was knocked out of the game against a superior Buffalo team. That same supporting cast started 8-3 in 2021 before a plague of injuries -- including one to Lamar -- destroyed their aspirations. Same shyt in 2022.
I completely agree that Lamar's supporting cast was not as dynamic as KC, Buffalo, Cincy, etc. But as long as Lamar was on the field and playing well, they had enough to win games at a very high level. And that's the thing: Lamar was not playing well during the postseason.
Had he put up numbers or looked elite in defeat, he would have gotten a pass and been hailed as someone who could drag mediocre teammates to heights beyond themselves. But because he wasn't looking great in those games, we get threads on here talking about how not only is this Super Bowl a must win for Lamar, but he's got to DOMINATE on his way to winning.
