MISINFORMATION.
A lot of us Xers & Boomers grew up in Hard times and poverty. I am a first generation American and son of migrant parents. All of my friends growing up were poor, yet we were able to make progress towards a better future and didn’t kill or c00n.
Systemic deprivation exists if you buy into the system. Cut the nonsense and just say you weak that you are insecure b. No way that dancing dude should bother you and even worst, what someone else thinks of you because of him.
Ahh, the ol’ bootstraps argument.
“If I did it, how come you can’t?”
“Just work harder”
“You’re lazy”
“my parents came here with nothing, what’s your excuse”
Growing up poor does not equal being destitute and traumatized due to intentional systemic disruption of households and other traumas in the community. Hell, being poor is often the least of their worries. Are some people/kids criminals and demons because that’s just who they are? Sure. Are there others who never had a chance due to their circumstances? Absolutely.
Arriving over here, (by choice, mind you) with no money isn’t the same as being systemically crushed for hundreds of years.
