The Ultraman eyes is such a dope bit of trivia. Directors consistently impress me with the level of intention they bring to even the smallest details. I never even second-guessed the moon earlier in the episode. Science Saru really knocked it out the park. I'm praying Studio Bones can have a similar impact with Gachiakuta.
Shaft with Monogatari & Madoka Magic the essential top of the line of how much an anime staff can bring to a series. I do know that Madoka Magic is technically Anime original but uses so many things Mahou Shoujo genre that it uses those well.

My only worry with Science Saru is if they got too many projects lineup. Outside of Dandadan they got.

  • Sanda
  • The Ghost in the Shell
  • Jaadugar: A Witch in Mongolia
Honestly, it is not too much like Cloverworks, which is a top-notch studio. But Through winter and into summer they had 6 anime projects and 5 of them are very notable. I just hope they don't add too many works so they could be more like Shaft or Cygames Pictures.

As far as Gachiakuta goes. I am pretty confident it can do well. Episode 3 is prob the episode where it will get people invested. If you give Bones time to cook they can deliver. Look at Mob Psycho or Bungeo Stray Dogs.

My Hero was a fukked situation where since Season 3 they had to deal with also making the filler movies. Honestly, the fact that the My Hero anime is even in decent shape with the awful production schedule is major credits to them.

I wonder if Daiki getting focused is meant to offer a look at the kid that bullied Okarun. That might be me overthinking it. I can imagine Daiki just thinking that he deserved being punished for what he did.

Though it's good for him to want to do something and help. God bless Zuma. You just see how people rally around him. Really shows he is a good dude. Honestly, I think it would be cool if he could serve as a leader and do his own thing alongside Mono, Okarun and the others.

Rewatching more of S1 with some good points from the staff.

The first point of this being a RomCom. It holds more true than one would think. As the supernatural parts of the series seem like they are the main part of the series. However, in every arc we have seen with the manga it has been Okarun & Momo's journey. While yes, they are looking for his balls for the entirety of the first arc, but it is also their journey together. One advantage it has to other romance series where it isn't one of them as the lead and the other is a love interest. They both take those two roles, which does make it more interesting then other romance series. Even in the most well written romance there is also usually a clear main protagonist.

It is actually interesting how they let the voice actors do their thing. Honestly, with Seiyuus being so talented, this is great to see. You see the same with Witch Watch this season. Though the usage is different. That one they go crazy with it being a gag comedy. Here it is to balance the comedy when the story needs to be serious. The switch tone is handheld so well.

I think anyone that watched could see that the colors represented different horror. Although it is really neat to see how yokai are intentional given a more warmth color in contrast to aliens. Well, makes sense since the Yokai protect earth while the aliens would attack it. Listing the various colors.

Although I did look at the descriptions of color usage in horror. Like Red being Turbo Granny & Black+White for Aliens fits well. Pink for Silly and being femineity makes sense.

One huge compliment to the adaptation is that it gave the anime horror elements that imo weren't really there in the manga. Though not sure if that is something that really is there after the Turbo Granny Arc.

Rewatching episode 5 now, man I love how the music choice isn't just well done in the action segments. How they nail the music when Momo & Okarun are lonely and missing each other till they accidentally kiss is perfect. Any staff that can do music well like in more SoL setting deserves major credit.

Also the episode absolutely delivers on the comedic timing. Going from I listed above to Okarun realizing he literally lost his balls is executed on point.

Dandadan episode 7 is right up with episode 4 as the best of the first season. Honestly, the mention of auras has been a thing that the series slowly mentions. Ever since Turbo Granny cursed Okarun. This is the kind of thing I love about the series. The explanation is simply and it SHOWS you it. Much like episode 4, the creativity in animation direction is supreme.

Though I have to be honest, Aira's love triangle part of the series is my least favorite part of this series. At least with Jiji I feel it pushes Okarun a lot, and they become close friends. I am just waiting for Tatsu to have Okarun finally flat out reject Aira and finally cut the band-aid off. Maybe that happens within this act since Jiji is with Momo & Aira is with Okarun.

200 chapters for this series :blessed:

It is more clear that the Aliens are opposed to CSG. There was one of the Kur that seemed to be working with CSG. They took after Okarun & Kenta beat Hase. Something to keep in mind.

At this point Murakami, Yukishiro & Adachi are all part of cog. Basically what Kinta is referring to even though he doesn't know he might have a point.

I am really interested in what Seiko left Okarun.

Rewatching episode 11 man I loved how they animated Jiji and it is killing me :dead:. Also props to Kaito Ishikawa for doing great work voicing Jiji because it ain't like his other roles at all.

  • Naofumi -> Shield Hero
  • Sakuta Azusagawa -> AoButa
  • Keigo -> Witch Watch
  • Kiyoka Kudou -> My Happy Marriage
  • Tenya Iida -> MHA

Man music choice of this anime is so good. :wow:. Just right here not only do they do good on the animation for the chase, which most studios would cut the budget for and call it a day. But music severely enhances it.

The ending part of episode 11 is probably one of the more overlooked parts of the season. Obviously, episodes 4 & 7 deserve the praise they get. The foundation of the series is Momo & Okarun's relationship. Unlike Momo with Aira who will fight back, Okarun is more passive. But hearing that is what gives him the push in episode 12.

It offered a balance of giving Okarun agency, but making it so it didn't seem unnatural for his character.

Serious props to the voice actor man. I was never a big fan of JiJi in the manga, but the animation and voice actually made him grow on me fast...that and Evil Eye being a really dope power/design. It makes me hype to see how some other fan favorites move and interact in the animation.

They deliver on him being this lovable guy that you can't hate. Which again aids in the friendship between him & Okarun that happens. Fully utilizing the anime medium.

I am very curious how anime onlies will like the Cursed House Arc, since IMO it was the first great arc in the series.

Watching S2 episode 1 again. (Seen the PreScreening)

This episode adapted the rest of chapter 34 as well as chapter 35-38.

  • Sound direction is on point just like S1.
  • As great as the art in the manga is, the choreography isn't as good. And man, the choreography with Momo fighting was top-notch.
  • I really liked the anime original addition of Okarun's powers leaking out when he loses control. It really shows even more he is not in the right state of mind.

In terms from a visual and animation standpoint they knocked it out of the park.

New OP making a point of my comment from episode 12 of S1 that Okarun's world saw colors when he saw Momo. As you can see with his glasses looking at Momo it is full of color and other parts are just gray.

ED just looks fun. The fact that Komugiko2000 key animated it by himself is insane. But also according to the credits, komugiko is credited for: storyboard, direction, genga (layout + key animation), color coordination, finishing check, background art, compositing, and editing by themselves. :whew:

OP from S1 is still King, but Science Saru did a good job all around for both pairs of OP & ED.

Yeah fam, even off the OP, I could tell this season's about to be a treat. The action choreography definitely slaps. I replayed the scene where Momo throws a bunch of shyt at the Kito matriarch three times, because I was laughing hard at her throwing one of the Kito's and his yelp after getting kicked away.

The voice acting is also consistently elite. Turbo Granny is so good. I kinda wanna check the dub to see how it holds up compared to the sub. The Japanese voice actors are absolutely great!
