Once he started getting high and shutting out Avon, it was a wrap. Nothing about him suggests that he wouldn't have turned and snitch

THINGS STRINGER BELL fukkED UP:
-He set up the Orlando hit that caused the shyt to hit the fan in season 1.
-He tried to set Omar on Brother Mouzone which ended in his demise.
-He failed to deal with the threat of Marlo properly in its formative stage.(Telling Avon not to worry about him, but he wants to murder state senators)
-He failed to hold territory
-Ripped off by Clay Davis and co.
-He got caught out on the wire anyway so even if he wasn't killed McNulty had him.
-Snitching on Avon meant the threat of Marlo was allowed to grow which lead to the terrible events of seasons 4 and 5.

because of the investigation sparked by Dangelo killing dude in front of witnesses ..... police didnt even know Avon Barksdale existed before that
secondly Marlo only went against Avon because as he said Avon was weak

because all his main soldiers like Weebay , littleman etc were either in jail or dead because of the investigation into the organisation
If Weebay was still around Marlo would have fallen in line with the rest on the independents and taken Avons package ...
It all started with Dangelo , Stringer just put the final nail in the coffin
If Avon wasn't hardheaded and trying to undercut the Co-op, he would've never had to hire Mouzone
Their product was trash and Avon overvalued territory. They made more money from the deal with Prop Joe and everyone else
Remember, they were beating up fiends for telling them that the dope was garbage
Stringer was but he was the Tom Hagen of the organisation, he wasnt a "wartime consiglieri"
I misspoke. He didnt start the investigation, but his multiple dumb decisions pretty much tanked the organization and his own life.
For example having Omar boyfriend Killed after they robbed the Pit was the dumbest shyt on EARTH.
It led to Wallace emotionally folding, Wallace being murdered, Dangelo emotionally folding because of Wallace being murdered...
and then ofcourse Omar becomes a bigger headache then the cops...
As viewers, we knew that he wanted to just be left alone.
In reality, he was a loose end with strikes against him already

Avon knew bout it so clearly them 2 had talked about it, so it wasnt like it was some kinda secret move String was makin behind Avon back. I mean you got a lawyer on retainer who handling all your high level criminal shyt....why keep him out the loop when it comes to political corruption and bribes and all that? He would seem to be the first person you would run it by, and shiiiiiiiiiit
He saw the threat represented by Marlo , he could see Marlo coming whereas Stringer thought he could appeal to Marlos reasoning
Avon knew that it wasnt about money with Marlo, he knew Marlo wanted the crown , Stringer just couldnt see it
