I think you're misunderstanding how popularity works in the digital era.

You can be pretty well-engaged with music and not know who specific people are. I've never heard a single DaniLeigh song in my entire life - and it's not because of being "out of touch" her music is almost exclusively consumed by a specific grouping of people and played at college parties (and clubs, of which there hasn't been much attendance due to the pandemic).

I didn't realize she'd choreographed BOP until I went to her Youtube page. The radio is no longer the penultimate measure of popular music, so its not going to be cross-generational.



This has 250M views in like 6 months and I had no idea who CJ was or this song until a week ago

Which is why the majority of people shouldn't be on social media in the first place as everyone isn't going to be nice or give you the validation that you're looking for. Most people think that taking a break from it will make the mean people and messages go away. It won't as those same people will still be there when you log back in.

If this chick has any ounce of sense, then she'd stay away from social media for good. People still aren't going to fukk with or like her when she comes back, so it will be the same situation.
