:mindblown: When does he think Cleveland are gonna be falling apart like they are now?

Danny Ainge in year 4 of complete rebuild, w/ C's in No. 2 seed & w/ top picks and cap space, people still want him fired. :mindblown:

They'll realize in the summer holding still was the best move right now....Indy wanted way too much. They can add a max player in the summer without giving up those picks...No way you beating GS even if you upset the Cavs which is still a long shot even with PG...

Basically at this point gotta pray he hits those Nets picks :francis:

And even if they pan out, it's still gonna take years before they're ready to compete for titles for real

There are a couple this year that could work, but I think Fultz is the only one who can help them contend soon.

By the time some of those other guys are ready IT will be on the tail end of things.

BKN picks will be ready to contribute from day 1 while developing chemistry and personal game.

How did the Knicks trade for Carmelo panned out, btw? :sas1:

Remind me when was the last time a 19 year old rookie was a key player on a team with championship aspirations? :lupe:

The Melo trade was awful due to the fact that they gutted their team for someone who was gonna sign there in a few months anyway. Not sure what it has to do with anything related to the Celtics as if we have been in that situation.

Gutting the team is what exactly will happen if you trade for guys like PG or Butler. You don't just get away with either of them without sending out any/all/one of Crowder, Smart, Bradley, Brown and the BKN picks. I'm fine with just sending one of them, but that opportunity apparently, never showed. A 1 1/2 year doesn't really make much difference than a half year.

Of course it never showed. No one with a shred of common sense would trade Butler or George for one of those players/picks straight up

Realistically the celtics could have traded for BOTH George/Butler and still had a solid 8-9 man rotation. Might even had enough to get Noel as well considering how cheap he was.

Yes it would have cost them both their nets picks, but why the hell not. Thomas/George/Butler/Horford as your core is more than enough to compete for the next few years.

I wish Jordan share the same sentiments with you.

Laker fans of all people should take a lesson from the Dwight Howard trade.

:mjlol:

Are you dumb breh?

The Lakers got Dwight for Andrew Bynum who was never healthy again and a single first round pick. Ya he left after a year but it was definitely worth the risk, it just didn't work out. We barely gave anything up for him.

Until those Brooklyn chips get cashed in, I feel like Trader Danny is unfukkwitable.

He's done so much so very well for so very long, I can't imagine not trusting his instincts on how to do this.

He's done so much finessing to get here, and be in such a position, that I'm willing to see it all play out.

not necessarily as a long term piece but we couldn't top Ross and the 27th pick?

Well that's the thing...Ainge was probably thinking "go big or go home" before the deadline. Even though we could've easily topped Ross and that pick, Ainge probably thought signing Ibaka (especially on a short-term basis) wasn't worth sacrificing his favored pieces. And I can't fault him. If Ibaka was traded here and then bounced during free agency, we wouldn't be in nearly as good in a position as he will be come this off-season (having the '17 Nets pick and cap space for max-contract players); we would've given up a pick and presumably a player for a guy who most likely would've bounced anyways.
